Billing and Revenue Manager

Location: Boston, MA



The Brattle Group is seeking a motivated and energetic individual with strong customer service skills and supervisory experience for a full-time Billing and Revenue Manager in our Boston, MA office to oversee client billing. The position is the main point of contact for Project Managers (PM) and Administrative Assistants (AA) for all revenue and invoicing inquiries and support. This position reports to the Senior Manager of Planning and Business Analysis (PB&A) and supervises a team of Billing Analysts.

Some of the day-to-day responsibilities of this role include:

  • Oversee day-to-day operations and the monthly preparation and distribution of billing packets to PMs and AAs;
  • Supervise two Billing Analysts and review client invoices to ensure accuracy of data including bill rates and client-specific billing requirements;
  • Ensure proper set-up of projects in Microsoft Dynamics SL (SL) by reviewing contract terms, including invoicing instructions & nuances, revenue recognition requirements, and customizations;
  • Identify ways to improve quality and efficiency of client billing cycle and procedures, collaborating with the Business Analysis team to implement improvements;
  • Analyze and report on unbilled aging and DSO, direct follow up, and identify opportunities to improve DSO;
  • Provide regular reporting to PMs on the health of their receivables;
  • Produce month-end reports and reconciliations and perform monthly close of the project ledger;
  • Oversee weekly timesheet processing for all Brattle entitities;
  • Work with PMs to collect percentage of completion on fixed price projects and monitor projects with budget caps and alert PMs when nearing cap;
  • Work with Sr. Manager of P&BA to ensure proper revenue recognition and to identify month-end adjustments;
  • Support ad hoc requests for project, billing, revenue, and/or client information;


The ideal candidate will have:

  • Bachelor’s Degree with concentration in Accounting or Business;
  • 7-10 years of billing experience, including 5 years of supervisory or management experience;
  • Experience in a professional services firm/environment;
  • Experience with GAAP revenue recognition and contract nuances;
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics SL (preferred) or similarly structured accounting system;
  • Advanced technical experience with MS Excel;
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and customer service orientation;
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, as well as the ability to handle numerous projects and deliverables concurrently;
  • Keen attention to detail;
  • Ability to work independently, across departments and experience levels, and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment;
  • Evening and/or weekend work may be required.
