Proposal Writer

Location: Washington, DC



The Brattle Group is looking to hire a Proposal Writer to drive the growth of the firm’s Regulatory and Energy Markets (REM) group by overseeing the group’s proposal efforts for new and recurring business.  The Proposal Writer will monitor and continually research the energy industry landscape and apply his or her subsequent knowledge to ensure that the group is delivering thorough, well-researched, and compelling proposal materials to current and potential clients.  Additionally, the individual will support project teams by contributing research, writing, and conceptual analysis related to clients’ needs in the areas of large-scale decarbonization, electrification, integration of electric vehicles and smart devices, changing business models, market policies, and reformed wholesale market designs, among others.

Specific responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Write, edit, and proofread all responses to RFPs with both technical proficiency and adherence to firm’s marketing strategy;
  • Manage end-to-end process of practice group’s response to RFPs including initial intake, planning, drafting, final production, and delivery;
  • Collaborate as necessary with other internal departments, such as Legal and Marketing, to ensure delivery of consistent and compliant proposal materials;
  • Review all RFP requirements to ensure inclusion of all necessary custom requirements;
  • Perform research on current and prospective clients to produce highly tailored proposal materials;
  • Build and maintain library of proposal content and documents for the practice group;
  • Ensure adherence to firm’s style guide as well as branding and document production standards;
  • Engage as a project team member along with other consultants to develop and deliver client work products;
  • Conduct research, writing, and qualitative analysis in furtherance of answering clients questions;
  • Participate in ad-hoc marketing, business development, document production or research activities as directed.


This position requires strong organizational, collaboration, and time management skills, as well as the ability to handle numerous time-sensitive projects and deliverables simultaneously.  The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in English, Marketing, Communications, or a related field;
  • 5+ years of technical writing experience in professional services firm;
  • Experience in energy and/or utility industries highly desired;
  • Experience in business development and research capacity is highly desired;
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills and ability to articulate complex concepts in a clear and concise manner;
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook;
  • Working knowledge of SharePoint or other similar platform for communicating and cataloging information is desirable;
  • Strong organizational, time management, and document management skills;
  • Ability to collaborate and influence;
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced office environment handling multiple tasks and demands concurrently;
  • Ability to operate independently, exercise appropriate judgment, discretion, and confidentiality.

Evening and weekend work as well as occasional travel may be required.
