Global Payroll Manager

Location: Boston, MA



The Brattle Group is seeking a full-time Global Payroll Manager to join the firm’s accounting team in the Boston, MA office. The Global Payroll Manager collaborates closely with the others on the Accounting team and various corporate departments at all levels of the organization.   This position will include responsibilities related to managing, coordinating, and executing all payroll and compliance activities for the Company’s multi-state and international payrolls in partnership with third party vendors.  Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Oversee and process US multistate semimonthly and weekly payrolls using ADP Workforce Now
  • Coordinate and manage processing of non-US monthly payrolls, providing effective leadership and oversight of Accounting team and local country processors
  • Process special transactions (e.g. bonus, retroactive pay, mid-period increases, garnishment, student loan and other statutory deductions)
  • Ensure taxes and other required government withholdings are collected, deposited and reported on a timely basis to federal, state, and local authorities
  • Coordinate with Accounting team on month end close responsibilities, including preparation of payroll journal entries and accruals
  • Lead and coordinate payroll information for internal reporting, bonus computations, payroll audits (i.e. workers comp) and pension administration
  • Provide prompt, friendly and efficient customer service to employees who have questions regarding their pay, deductions or the payroll process
  • Research requirements and lead implementation of new payroll setups with service providers in new countries in conjunction with international expansion efforts
  • Partner with HR to ensure accuracy and completeness of payroll data


This position requires strong organizational, collaboration, customer service, and time management skills.  The ideal candidate will also possess:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field
  • 12+ years of payroll experience; with at least 5 years’ global experience required
  • Experience with employee relocation, tax gross-up, and Expats
  • Advanced knowledge of ADP Workforce Now payroll system
  • Knowledge of global payroll requirements with preference given to experience with UK, Spain, Italy, Australia, Belgium, or Canada payrolls
  • Experience with SuccessFactors desirable
  • Understanding of taxation of aliens by Visa and immigration status
