Associate - Electricity and Power Systems Focus

Location: Boston, MA

Description

We are seeking an Associate with a focus in Electricity and Power Systems. There is a strong preference for this position to be based in our Boston, MA office, but we are also open to discussing other location preferences.

The Associate will work in a growth-oriented team environment to help our clients as we contribute to understanding and answering the most important problems facing the electricity sector of the future, including: deep decarbonization and large scale renewables integration, electricity market design, large scale electrification of transportation and other sectors, fundamental changes to utilities’ and others’ business models, reforms to resource planning, advances in technology, and maximizing the potential of big data.  Assignments involve a combination of hard-hitting quantitative analysis and policy/industry thought leadership.  

Associates work as part of a team on consulting engagements in a collegial, development-centered community. Brattle is being sought after to answer complex economic, regulatory, and financial questions for clients around the world. We provide our Associates with a variety of experiences and personalized development by working with a variety of experts. Associates are important and central members of each project team and they apply finance and economic theory and practice to high profile public policy, corporate strategy, regulation issues, and disputes on behalf of our clients.

Associates are responsible for framing problem-solving approaches, project management, supervising team/staff, and developing client relationships while building personal expertise in new areas. As they gain valuable hands-on project experience, Associates also become more involved in marketing and business development efforts. The Brattle Group commits to continuous training and development for consultants and has a strong track record of developing Associates into Principals/Experts.
 

Ideal Candidates Will Possess or Have a Desire to Develop:

  • PhD in Electrical Engineering or related fields with a foundation in Economics. Strong preference for power systems engineering training.
  • Demonstrated potential and enthusiasm to develop new expertise areas, develop professionally, and help identify innovative solutions for our clients
  • Pre or postgraduate work experience in a related work environment (in power sector, finance, or consulting) is strongly desired
  • Exceptional writing, presentation, and verbal communications skills
  • Strong analytic, quantitative, and practical problem-solving skills such as econometrics, statistics, programming, modeling, or applied mathematics
  • Flexibility to use a variety of conceptual frameworks and analytical tools from across different disciplines
  • Intellectual curiosity
  • An entrepreneurial drive
  • Strong relationship and team-building skills
  • Desire to work in a collaborative team environment
  • Demonstrated record of outstanding academic and/or practical accomplishment such as publications in IEEE journals
