International Payroll Specialist

Location: Multiple Offices


The Brattle Group is seeking a full-time International Payroll Specialist to join the firm’s accounting team in the Boston, MA or Washington, DC office. The International Payroll Specialist will act as the main point of contact for both employees and external vendors regarding payroll issues, as well as work very closely with the HR team to coordinate changes related to payroll. The position will also support related accounting tasks, new country setups and expat payroll setups and processing. Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:


  • Working directly with our In-Country Payroll Providers, process multi-country payrolls, ensuring timely payroll, accurate data and compliance.
  • Balance and reconcile payroll reports, create and post payroll journal entries, and provide required funding requests.
  • Liaise with and coordinate with HR on employee changes affecting payroll.
  • Research and resolve any payroll related issues.
  • Tracking and maintaining accurate records of country specific leave time requirements.
  • Act as main point of contact for employee questions regarding payroll and their pay statements.
  • Understand and research proper taxation of employer paid benefits and country specific payroll tax laws, keeping abreast of any changes.
  • Assist with implementations of new country payrolls and/or service providers.
  • Create and maintain on-going processing and tax documentation.
  • Assist in the research, setup and processing of expats, including tax calculations, gross-ups of allowances and benefits, and certificates of coverage.



  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Minimum of 3-5 years global payroll experience
  • Solid understanding of payroll processes, laws and regulations pertaining to payroll administration
  • Law firm or professional services experience strongly preferred
  • Experience working with ADP WorkforceNow, ADP Celergo, SAP or other payroll service providers
  • Proficiency in Excel and Word
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills are required
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment, and to work as part of a team is an essential quality
  • Comfortable interacting with senior level personnel inside & outside of the firm
  • Flexibility to accommodate working with different time zones
  • Overtime may be required – evening and/or weekend
