Business Analyst

THE POSITION

We are seeking someone to join the Planning Business & Analysis team as a Business Analyst in our Boston, MA office. This position is responsible for supporting full-cycle business process improvement initiatives, review and development of BI related solutions, and assist with financial system support.

 

Some day-to-day responsibilities may include:

 

  • Support firm wide process improvement initiatives relative to the firm’s business objectives
  • Work with various internal clients to understand business problems, gather feedback, and work towards collaborative solutions
  • Assist with the development and execution of comprehensive test plans; document results
  • Assist with periodic review of internal processes to identify opportunities for improvement and ensure business procedures are being followed
  • Provide ad-hoc analyses as needed 
  • Work with Business Analysis and IT Applications departments to implement and maintain reporting and BI solutions for internal clients
  • Create technical design and specification documentation to support project efforts
  • Provide end user training on BI related systems & tools
  • Troubleshoot issues with reporting tools and provide solutions to ensure data accuracy and optimal usability
  • Periodically assess end user reporting tools and collect end user feedback to maximize user experience
  • Ensure systems are configured to support business rules Assist with implementation and testing of new business systems
  • Assist with implementations related to lifecycle of system upgrades, 3rd party enhancements, or custom applications
  • Provide technical support for financial systems including troubleshooting and problem solving with end users

 

THE CANDIDATE

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree with concentration in business related field or information technology 
  • Minimum of 2-3 years business related experience preferred, experience in a professional services work environment a plus
  • Intermediate knowledge of MS SQL for data analysis (select statements, table joins), process workflow review, and knowledge of enterprise database table structures a plus
  • Ability to develop functional requirements and technical specifications documentation
  • Strong MS Excel skills – Intermediate to Advanced
  • Experience creating insightful data visualizations using modern visualization tools (PowerBI, Tableau etc.) a plus
  • Experience with MS Dynamics SL or Solver BI360 a plus
  • Positive customer service focused attitude
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Comfortable interacting with senior level personnel
  • Creative problem solver with solutions that are grounded in reality
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, as well as the ability to handle numerous projects and deliverables concurrently
  • Strong attention to detail and follow through on project deliverables
  • Eager to learn new skills and contribute on a diverse set of projects
  • Ability to build rapport with teams and internal clients
  • Ability to work overtime when required
  • Occasional travel may be required
