Tax Accountant

Location: Multiple Offices


The Brattle Group is seeking a full-time Tax Accountant to join the firm’s corporate accounting team in the Boston, MA or Toronto, ON office. The Tax Accountant is responsible for the preparation of monthly and periodic tax filings and other compliance matters for the US and international operations; and will assist the Senior Manager of Tax and Compliance in reviewing/monitoring tax regulation and impacts to the business and operations. Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:


  • Assist in the preparation of the annual US cash basis consolidated federal and state tax work papers and schedules, including the accrual to cash conversion; tax provisions; and estimated tax payments
  • Prepare all state and local tax filings, including sales/use; property tax and gross receipts tax returns
  • Assist in the preparation of work papers and schedules for federal and provincial tax returns for 6 international entities, including book to tax reconciliations and advance tax payments
  • Prepare local filings unique to each country, including fringe benefit reporting; VAT/GST/HST tax returns on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis; and Canada – T4A-NR’s to non-resident subcontractors
  • Keep abreast of current tax laws, regulations and practices; and identify changes that may impact Brattle
  • Provide assistance to the Legal Department on the tax implications of client engagements/proposals, required registrations, and withholding
  • Support and advise the Billing Team on invoice requirements regulated by foreign tax authorities and the proper assessment of indirect taxes
  • Apply for tax residency certificates, both US and foreign
  • Maintain and monitor compliance calendar to ensure adherence to deadlines and the timely filing of returns 



  • Bachelor’s Degree with a concentration in Accounting
  • 3+ years of international and domestic tax experience in tax department of public accounting firm or corporate tax department
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Experience and proficiency in using structured accounting systems and other software applications
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills are required
  • Hands-on “roll-up-the-sleeves” services attitude with strong customer service focus
  • Able to work effectively with teams members and collaboratively across departments
  • Fast paced office environment handling multiple tasks and demands
  • Must be able to exercise appropriate judgement as necessary
  • Requires the ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail
  • Must be able to learn quickly and adapt to growing and changing environment
