Senior Accounting Assistant

Location: Boston, MA


The Brattle Group is seeking a full-time Senior Accounting Assistant to join the firm’s corporate accounting team in the Boston, MA office. The Accounting Assistant is responsible for supporting the accounting department and the Senior Director of Accounting in a variety of accounting functions and activities that includes data entry, processing, recording transactions, assisting with audits, documentation and record management, fact-checking/review, and preparing reports. The primary focus will be in the areas of Billing, Receivables, Payables and Treasury.


Some of the day-to-day responsibilities of this role include:

  • Follow up on missing timesheets and missing mailed invoices
  • Attach mailed invoices to invoice records in accounting system
  • Maintain saved invoice folders
  • Review project information periodically and raise questions on discrepancies
  • Support team in managing workflow, responsiveness to inquiries, open items and quality
  • Monitor multiple bank accounts daily to ensure accuracy of transactions and consistency with internal records
  • Initiate payments in bank portals for authorization by Sr. Director of Accounting
  • Pull documentation on incoming wires and payments
  • Match and document daily deposit and wires against outstanding invoices. Work with Collections and Billing teams to resolve discrepancies between amount received and invoice
  • Provide back-up support in preparing vendor payments and employee reimbursements and/or review of same
  • Fact-checking invoices and receipts for payment
  • Assisting team in annual audit, including gathering documentation; preparing schedules and   confirmations



  • Bachelor’s Degree with a concentration in business or accounting
  • 2+ years of accounting experience, preferably in a professional service environment
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with ability to prioritize
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skill
  • Ability to multi-task and remain motivated and positive
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team as needed
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively and to interact with internal and external customers and team members with high regard to customer service
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and working with Microsoft Excel spreadsheets
  • Experience working with accounting software packages
