The Brattle Group is seeking a highly organized and adaptable individual for a full-time Writer/Editor in our Boston, MA office. This position will play a meaningful role in elevating the editorial quality of Brattle’s external and internal communications. The ideal candidate will work closely with other Marketing department colleagues, along with Brattle’s internal and affiliated subject matter experts, to elevate and expand the firm’s portfolio of thought leadership content. S/he will help to ensure the highest level of editorial quality across all digital (and sometimes even print) materials.
Some of the day-to-day responsibilities of this role include:
- Draft, edit, and/or proofread a range of written materials – primarily for external audiences – including articles, whitepapers, newsletters, Q&As, PowerPoint presentations, press releases, brochures, emails, website content, and social media posts
- Develop and maintain processes and provide quality control for content development within the Marketing department
- Contribute to the development of new approaches to thought leadership, publications, and the dissemination of Brattle content in multiple geographies
- Contribute to new and emerging digital initiatives that support the practices’ go-to-market strategies, including but not limited to video, infographics, and other interactive content
- Contribute to the development of effective proposal and pitch materials
- Provide editorial review of bios and CVs, in accordance with firm standards (primarily based on The Chicago Manual of Style)
- Assist in evaluating publication opportunities and coordinating with external contacts
- Develop and maintain editorial calendars for designated publications
- Develop a solid understanding of the firm’s practice areas and related industries, with the goal of deepening knowledge and expertise over time
- Work collaboratively with department colleagues to provide editorial support to firm- and practice-level marketing initiatives
- Assist with award and survey submissions
- Contribute to internal, other, and ad hoc marketing projects as needed
THE CANDIDATE
- Bachelor’s Degree required; English, Journalism, and Marketing majors preferred
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience; Professional services experience is highly desirable, especially related to economic consulting, management consulting, or the legal industry
- Exceptional writing skills, with an ability to prepare focused and customized written materials on technical and academic subject matter
- Proficient in translating complex concepts into clear, engaging, shorter-form content
- Excellent editing and proofreading skills
- Highly adept at project planning and management
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to handle multiple and shifting tasks and demands
- Ability to both work independently and as part of a highly collaborative team
- Aptitude for interacting effectively with people across all parts of the organization
- Understanding of, and respect for, keeping confidential key information regarding firm matters
- Requires flexibility to work long hours, occasional nights / weekends, including travel
