Serve as an AmeriCorps member alongside your college internship! Make a difference in your community by supporting at-risk students in Central Texas schools! Communities In Schools of Central Texas is a non-profit social work agency that works in Central Texas public schools. CIS AmeriCorps places members on school campuses in Travis County, Hays County (including Buda, Kyle and Niederwald), and Lockhart where they serve as supportive mentors to at-risk students.
We are seeking dedicated, responsible applicants with a genuine passion for working with at-risk youth. Experience with school-aged children preferred but not required. Bilingual applicants and individuals with disabilities are strongly encouraged to apply. We provide training and ongoing support.
Program Dates: Members may serve for one semester or the entire school year.
Benefits: At the completion of service, members receive a $1,538.36 education award that can be used for qualified educational expenses for up to 7 years.
Hours: Education Award Only members serving for one semester will serve 35-40 hours per week. Members serving for the entire school year will serve 16-18 hours per week.
