Building on extensive experience and expertise working hand-in-hand with Key Populations at the intersection of health and human rights globally, Heartland Alliance International (HAI), in close collaboration with USAID and other international and local organizations serving KP in Namibia, will support the scale-up of KP-led community approaches to Strengthening Technical Assistance and Response for sustainable HIV prevention and treatment (KP-STAR) Activity.


HAI is looking for a Senior Advisor for Community Engagement to help plan and coordinate all activities under an anticipated 5-year USAID-funded Key populations – Strengthening Technical Assistance and Response for sustainable HIV prevention and treatment (KP-STAR) Activity.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead engagement with and capacity development of Activity stakeholders (e.g. consortium members, grantee organizations, key population community members, etc);
  • Lead the development and implementation of community engagement initiatives across all Activity components;
  • Partner with other technical staff and local program support teams as need to support the design, implementation, monitoring and/or evaluation of community-engagement strategies;
  • Maintain communications with the HAI home office as necessary;
  • Carry out other relevant tasks as necessary.

Minimum Required Qualifications:

  • A minimum of an advanced diploma. However, Bachelors degree in Public Health, Health communications and Promotion, Health Administration, Management Social Work, or Business Administration with a focus on public health, social sciences, or related field is preferable

  • At least 5 years of progressively responsible experience in working on community engagement, mobilization, advocacy or related activities

  • Demonstrated understanding, ability and competence effectively working with KP-Led organizations, and effectively coordinate with a range of stakeholders including government, community and other civil society organizations and private sector.

  • Member of KP community is highly encouraged for this role.
