R&D Co. will harness our pioneering work in cGMP pharmacology to advance its portfolio of differentiated sGC stimulators being evaluated for treatment of serious and orphan diseases. Following completion of the separation, the Principal Associate Scientist will be a part of R&D Co.

 

We are looking for a highly-motivated individual to join the Chemical Development group to help develop new medicines as a Principal Associate Scientist, under the guidance of a Senior Principal Investigator. The Chemical Development team is responsible for all facets of development from small scale synthesis in support of Discovery programs to the development of robust chemical processes to synthesize drug substance for clinical candidates.  The team produces drug substance to be used in preclinical studies and oversees the manufacturing of drug substance used in clinical studies at CMOs.  The Chemical Development group is part of the highly collaborative Pharmaceutical Development department and works closely with the Analytical Development and Formulation Development groups.  The successful candidate will enable and develop scalable processes which are safe, efficient and robust through thoughtful experimentation in a laboratory setting.

  

Responsibilities:   

  • Assist in the design, planning and execution of multi-step experimental studies to provide safe, efficient, robust and scalable processes.

  • Analyze experimental data to drive synthetic experimental plans.

  • Function independently with limited direct supervision to optimize chemical reactions, workups, isolations, separations, purifications and crystallizations and conduct scale-up activities towards development compounds.

  • Work collaboratively with analytical chemists and formulation chemists within Pharmaceutical Development group.

  • Communicate scientific results in a clear, concise, and accurate manner via electronic laboratory notebook documentation, development report, project discussion and presentation.

  • Draft and review technical reports and patent application.

  • Exhibit a high level of safety awareness and conduct lab operations in a safe manner.

 

Minimum Qualifications:  

  • B.S./B.A. or MS in chemistry with at least 5 years in process chemistry environment.

  • Hands on experience in route scouting, process optimization, and managing API production through CMOs.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to maintain an accurate scientific notebook.

  • Hands on experience in modern analytical tools and techniques, as well as data interpretation.

  • An ability to communicate results through clear, concise written reports, publications and related documentation.

   
  

Preferred Qualifications:  

  • Experience working in a GMP Manufacturing environment highly preferred.

  • Experience with Design of Experiments (DoE)
