Position description:

It’s an exciting time for Ironwood. After two decades of growth and innovation, in 2018 we announced our intent to create two focused, independent companies: Ironwood and “Cyclerion Therapeutics.” This new way of doing business will enhance our agility and innovation and empower our teams to make a bigger impact on our patients and on our industry.

The new Ironwood will focus on accelerating the growth of our marketed product Linzess® (linaclotide) and advancing the development of our innovative pipeline of treatments for GI diseases and abdominal pain. Following completion of the separation, the Executive Assistant to the CEO will be part of the new Ironwood.

We are seeking a highly experienced and motivated, executive administrative professional, to join the Ironwood team and support our CEO. The Executive Assistant to the CEO provides executive, administrative, and development support to the CEO and Board of Directors. The Executive Assistant serves as the primary point of contact for internal and external constituencies on all matters pertaining to the CEO. The Executive Assistant serves as a liaison to the Board of Directors and senior management teams; organizes and coordinates executive outreach and external relations efforts; and oversees special projects.  This position requires a high level of commitment and may require additional hours and some travel to support the CEO. 

 

Responsibilities:

  • Work directly with the Ironwood CEO; complete a broad variety of administrative tasks that include managing an active calendar of appointments; completing expense reports; composing and preparing correspondence; arranging complex and detailed travel plans, itineraries and agendas, and compiling documents for meetings.

  • Communicates directly and on behalf of the CEO with Internal Senior team, Board members, customers, investors, employees and other inquiries.

  • Coordinates meetings with these constituents and organizes strategic activities with the SLT.

  • Prepares an account of the meetings and designates and follows up on assigned action items.

  • Serves as the CEO’s administrative liaison to the Board of Directors and manages Board activities, which include coordinating Board meetings and dinners; new Board member orientations; arranging hotel accommodations for out-of-town Board members; processing travel reimbursement requests; and compiling, assembling, and distributing Board meeting materials. Research potential Board members for the Nomination Committee.

  • Lead and work closely with other executive assistants to ensure company-wide initiatives are achieved.

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s or Associate's degree preferred along with 10+ years’ experience in a fast paced environment;

  • A high-energy, highly-efficient individual who is passionate about the work that they do and thrives on working in a fast-paced, demanding, and fun environment;

  • Strong organizational, administrative and analytical skills;

  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks with strong attention to detail in a business with changing priorities with flawless follow through

  • Ability to work independently with excellent judgment and discretion;

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interface effectively with a wide variety of internal and external clients at all levels.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;

  • Extensive experience using Microsoft Office, Excel, PowerPoint and Word

 

Preferred:

Experience in the biotech or pharmaceutical industry a plus.
