Working daytimes as part of the operational team and reporting to the shift team leader, you would be responsible for participating and assisting with various tasks in the preparation, processing and storage of a variety of chemicals and chemical intermediates.

Key responsibilities

  • Operating and adhering to EHS best practice and procedure, ensuring all tasks are carried out safely and that all risks are understood.

  • To attend training and key communication sessions to ensure a good core knowledge of processes and risks

  • Maintain plant records and equipment calibration records

  • Participate fully in the Quality Management System

  • Follow process procedures diligently, ensuring processes work first time

  • Create and maintain batch process records and shift logs as work progresses

  • Ensure conformance to customer requirements, specifications and output schedules with respect to total quality in all aspects of the job

  • Monitor & analyse process plant performance to ensure processes are operating within process operating conditions

  • Support the operational team members to troubleshoot process problems and investigate and implement corrective actions

  • Work closely with the technical team to understand the technical processes and support new process

  • Work effectively with team members, management teams and other key members

  • Use of pallet truck vehicle to move materials including pallets, Intermediate Bulk containers (IBC’s)

  • Cleaning process equipment and general housekeeping duties, assisting in loading finished product

  • To successfully complete all training where necessary for the role including the Level 3 Science Manufacturing Technician apprenticeship

Are you the ideal candidate?

You will have:

  • Grade C or higher in GCSE Mathematics and English

  • Good IT and communication skills

  • Experience of a variety of different PC Packages including Excel, Word, Access Microsoft, SharePoint

  • Good understanding of Chemistry (preferably to A-level)

  • Good communication skills

  • Good attention to detail and the ability to record accurate information

  • Able to build strategic working relationships

  • Able to work alone as well as part of team

  • Have a desire to build a career in science and/or operations

  • Have a passion to learn, grow and develop yourself to your full potential

Due to the nature of this role applicants must be non-smokers, have been free from nicotine products for at least 3 months, and be 18 years or older as of 1st September 2019.  Anticipated start date of the role is August/September 2019.
