Job Purpose 

An exciting opportunity has arisen in Group EHS for an Environmental Sustainability Data Specialist. This person will be responsible for environmental data completeness and quality to meet the company’s environmental reporting commitments to shareholders and other external stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

  • Reporting to the Group Environmental Manager with a dotted functional reporting line to the Group Sustainability Manager, the post holder will lead environmental data analysis from our global sites, ensuring data completeness and quality according to invoices and emissions calculations.
  • The post holder will be responsible for internal monthly reporting of Group Environmental performance, making sure that all KPIs are reported on time to a high quality. The post holder will be responsible for all day to day communication with all site-based staff necessary to ensure they are aware of deadlines and are adequately trained to complete their monthly environmental data returns into the Enablon system on schedule.
  • The post holder will be responsible for collating information required for environmental performance submissions to external stakeholders by JM Group, such as investors and customers (see Other info)
  • The post holder will manage an internal audit program of environmental data quality across the JM Group, perform independent internal checks on the quality and accuracy of data submitted by sites to look for mistakes or significant changes in monthly performance and will liaise with sites throughout the year to build up an understanding of performance trends.
  • The post holder will manage internal projects focussed on individual environmental KPIs developing and documenting data collection methodologies for JM Group, to improve data quality and consistency.  The post-holder will keep the JM Environmental Data dictionary up to date.
  • They will act as JM point of contact with 3rd party assurance EHS data auditors for JM’s annual Report for day to day business – scheduling meetings and ensuring the auditors receive from sites all data they request in a timely manner.  Facilitating communication and resolution of any data accuracy issues between sites and external auditors.
  • There will be opportunities to travel globally to visit other JM sites as part of this role.

Are you the ideal candidate?

You will have:

  • Proven project management experience 
  • Experience in building strong working relationships and influencing colleagues globally, using Skype as the principle form of communication
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Highly advanced numerical skills and experience analysing large volumes of numerical data
  • Strong attention to detail 
  • A self-starter attitude with the ability to work autonomously but also collaboratively within a team environment whilst prioritising and balancing conflicting demand
  • Experience working with data and corporate data system
  • Education to degree level in a STEM or mathematical subject
  • Experience with Enablon would be an advantage
