Vacancy: Operations Manager

Location: Edinburgh

Full Time, Permanent

The role will support the business operational strategy and provide leadership to the operational teams within the West Site and the Maintenance and Technical functions for the Edinburgh facility. A key member of the site management team, the successful candidate will also play a pivotal role in driving the future growth plans, ensuring continued delivery of high customer service and instrumental in driving and maintaining focus on our high standards across safety and quality with ‘People & Patient Safety’ as our first consideration.An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Edinburgh facility for an Operations Manager reporting to the Site Director with responsibility for two manufacturing plants.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead all operational activities across two manufacturing plants within the West Site of the Edinburgh facility with an expectation that safety and quality targets are exceeded

  • Manage Maintenance and Technical functions to deliver key milestones/objectives.

  • Drive a culture that promotes a work environment where there is positive energy, creativity and teamworking across all functions

  • Establish performance goals for each department and for direct reports to ensure key business metrics are achieved

  • Proven P&L experience with strong budgeting and planning capabilities

  • Deputise for the Site Director

The ideal candidate will have

  • Manufacturing experience in active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) or fine chemical sectors to include direct interaction with external regulatory organisations. (FDA/MHRA/HSE/SEPA)
  • A proven track record of leadership demonstrating coaching and development of working teams fostering a proactive and positive attitude with personal accountability

  • Be passionate about operational excellence and lean methodologies delivering continuous improvement to maximise asset utilisation

  • Experience in delivery of CAPEX projects on time to budget

  • Proven results in managing and developing talent

  • Ability to progressively lead towards the achievement of a long-term strategy whilst anticipating and mitigating future change implications

  • A minimum of BSc in Chemistry/Process Engineering/Chemical Engineering or equivalent
