Working in the Engineering Maintenance department, you will be responsible for ensuring all works are planned as required, to suit both local and strategic demands.

To work as part of the maintenance team, helping deliver 80% effective utilisation of resource to achieve strategic and departmental goals.

The tasks include planning for both planned and reactive maintenance, project works, TPM and 5S tasks, supplier inductions and permit writing.

Key responsibilities

  • Working safely at all times, essential when managing external resource permitting and RAMS review.

  • To work closely with maintenance Lead Engineer, and shift based team leaders, to ensure appropriate work is planned to achieve 80% effective utilisation of available manpower. This is to support the department in delivering necessary ratio of planned and reactive work/time, to achieve departmental and strategic goals.

  • Responsible for planning works using 3rd party contractors. Request and review RAMS in advance, and permit/manage the works when contractor on site.

  • Taking people round the plant when required

  • Expected to challenge requests for resource/actions based on costs and perceived need. If unsure – to ask, as some requests may be a major change requiring use of management of change process rather than the maintenance planning route. Also – to sense check quotations from suppliers to ensure we are getting good value.

  • Plan production downtime to coincide with planned maintenance requirements.

  • To take part in 5S standards and auditing of areas to ensure standards are kept.

  • Whilst reporting to the Lead Maintenance Engineer, work with the shift based teams and 3rd party contractors to address plant issues and planned works.

  • The role is key to supporting the maintenance department achieve its target of 80% effective utilisation.

  • Work closely with production regarding planned downtime for maintenance activities to be carried out, both planned and reactive.

  • To carry out any other duties which are within the employee’s skills and abilities whenever reasonably instructed.

Are you the ideal candidate?

You will be / have:

  • A background in engineering

  • Previous experience of permit writing and contractor management

  • Computer literate regards basic Microsoft/email packages

  • Experience on CMMS system, for example Shire Pirana

  • Flexible approach

  • Good interpersonal skills – ability to talk to people of all backgrounds and position
