Why We Need You

As a Senior Data Modeler you will help PEMCO compete in the dynamic, data-driven insurance marketplace by growing our enterprise data model and helping to define how that model is implemented across a variety of key business applications. As Tim Berners Lee said “Data is a precious thing and will last longer than the systems themselves.”

What You Will Be Doing

  • Collaborate with users, project managers, developers, business analysts to understand and translate business needs into data models
  • Work with the data architect to develop / adapt industry-standard conceptual reference models and help to define the future state data architecture and an interim strategy that move us forward on that path
  • Define standard integration points and methods for data being captured by transaction systems
  • Design/optimize/maintain logical and physical data models for OLTP and analytical solutions
  • Develop technical standards and specifications for database models and metadata
  • Work with the application development teams to implement data strategies and design data flows that conform to enterprise reference models and technical data standards
  • Contribute to research and evaluation of options and recommend data management solutions for our needs 
  • Develop gap analysis between current state and desired to-be state from a data perspective
  • Identify and analyze data conflicts between legacy systems and reconcile conflicting or ambiguous information

What You Have

  • Minimum five (5+) years data modeling experience in a professional environment
  • Mastery of one or more data modeling tools, preferably ERWin
  • High proficiency (5+ years) in T-SQL required for data analysis, profiling and troubleshooting
  • Demonstrated experience integrating disparate data into a cohesive model using a range of relational and NoSQL data sources
  • Demonstrated understanding of formal data architecture, design patterns and best practices
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate complex technical issues, solutions and designs to a wide variety of audiences
  • Ability to thrive in complex, fast-paced environment
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related technical program, or equivalent professional experience
  • Experience with agile team practices
  • Familiarity with VSTS or Jira
  • Insurance Industry experience preferred
