This role will work closely with the Financial Planning and Analysis team to focus on key financial processes at Bridgespan. The Senior Finance Analyst will serve as the Finance lead for support to Bridgespan’s Leadership and Institute units, and success in this position will require developing strong relationships with these key internal customers. The Senior Finance Analyst will also have major responsibility for grant tracking and reporting, as well as for preparing financial elements of grant proposals. Additionally, this role will play a significant part in the annual budget process, maintaining the budget model and effectively communicating insights to key internal customers.

This position would be a great opportunity for a finance professional with above-entry-level experience to serve as a trusted financial partner to key business units, and to acquire significant skills in the financial aspects of grants management.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Provide reporting and analytical support to Bridgespan’s Leadership and Institute programs. This includes maintaining and developing schedules and models required to provide ongoing support to financial decision making for each unit, and monthly reports on key metrics such as project tracking and allocation of grant funds
  • Monthly financial close, including closes for both fee and grant revenue, with support from Finance Analyst
  • Preparation of grant reports according to donor requirements
  • Preparation of budget sections of all grant proposals to ensure consistency with Bridgespan financial standards
  • Tracking of grant balances, and preparation of monthly grant revenue journal entries
  • Extensive support to the annual budget process, including maintenance of unit- and office-level staffing rosters, coordinating communications and meetings with key customers, and creating and maintaining PowerPoint slides
  • Assist with ad hoc analytical requests, such as long-term financial models


  • Bachelor’s degree in finance/accounting preferred (will accept relevant equivalent experience in corporate or nonprofit finance/accounting)
  • 3-5 years of experience in a financial analyst or accounting role, preferably at a consulting firm, nonprofit organization or philanthropic foundation
  • Experience in grant accounting is strongly preferred
  • Familiarity with basic accounting principles is required
  • Strong Excel skills
  • Experience developing and maintaining complex financial models is required
  • PowerPoint skills required
  • Familiarity with Blackbaud or other accounting software is desirable
  • Comfortable with web-based systems, especially Microsoft Dynamics CRM
  • Detail-oriented
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a deadline-driven professional services environment
  • Commitment to the nonprofit sector
