Boeing Intelligence & Analytics is looking for a Software Developer for a role on a prime program centered on RF collection capabilities.

This role will be based in Annapolis Junction, MD and requires a TS/SCI clearance with active polygraph.

Responsibilities Include:  

The selected individual will be responsible for working in a dynamic team environment, working on state-of-the-art solutions to complex, timely, newsworthy operations. The applicant must demonstrate the ability to solve complex problems using whatever tools and practices are best suited for the challenge presented. The team will have group-oriented as well as more individual tasks. On a typical day the selected candidates will perform the following tasks: 

  • Analyze user requirements to derive software design and performance requirements
  • Debug existing software and correct defects
  • Provide recommendations for improving documentation and software development process standards
  • Design and code new software or modify existing software to add new features
  • Integrate existing software into new or modified systems or operating environments
  • Develop simple data queries for existing or proposed databases or data repositories
  • Write or review software and system documentation
  • Serve as team lead at the level appropriate to the software development process being used on any particular project
  • Design or implement complex database or data repository interfaces/queries
  • Develop or implement algorithms to meet or exceed system performance and functional standards
  • Assist with developing and executing test procedures for software components
  • Develop software solutions by analyzing system performance standards, confer with users or system engineers; analyze systems flow, data usage and work processes; and investigate problem areas
  • Modify existing software to correct errors, to adapt to new hardware, or to improve its performance
  • Design, develop and modify software systems, using scientific analysis and mathematical models to predict and measure outcome and consequences of design
  • Design or implement complex algorithms requiring adherence to strict timing, system resource, or interface constraints; Perform quality control on team products
  • Implement recommendations for improving documentation and software development process standards
  • Oversee one or more software development teams and ensure the work is completed in accordance with the constraints of the software development process being used on any particular project
  • Confer with system engineers and hardware engineers to derive software requirements and to obtain information on project limitations and capabilities, performance requirements and interfaces
  • Coordinate software system installation and monitor equipment functioning to ensure operational specifications are met
  • Provide specific input to the software components of system design to include hardware/software trade-offs, software reuse, use of Commercial Off-the-shelf (COTS)/Government Off-the-shelf (GOTS) in place of new development, and requirements  analysis and synthesis from system level to individual software components

Required Qualifications: 

The successful candidate will have a strong background with the following technologies/tools: 

  • Requirements interpretation and documentation 
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently to solve complex technical problems 
  • Ability to develop and evaluate software performance of real-time software 
  • Software technical role experience from concept development through implementation, integration and test, including direct and sustained customer interaction to achieve positive results 
  • Knowledge of real-time, deterministic, processing software and data transport as well as efficient techniques for implementing low latency, high-throughput system software 
  • Well versed in C/C++ development including Object-Oriented Design in an embedded software environment 
  • Experience with interface definition and system modeling for risk reduction and collaborative development 
  • Knowledge of computing equipment and its operating systems (e.g., Windows, Unix, Linux) 
  • Demonstrated creative, critical thinking and troubleshooting skills, strong collaborative skills, strong written and verbal communication 
  • Fourteen (14) years' experience as a SWE in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity is required.  
  •  Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related discipline from an accredited college or university is required. Four (4) years of additional SWE experience on projects with similar software processes may be substituted for a bachelor's degree 

Preferred Qualifications: 

In addition to the required skills listed above, the ideal candidate will have had exposure to the following technologies/tools: 

  • Experience in Signal Processing, Communications Signals, Signal Intelligence (SIGINT), and/or Software-Defined Radios (SDR) 
  • Experience with SDR frameworks such as GNU Radio, REDHAWK, and/or OpenCPI 
  • Experience in development of algorithm software for complex RF collection systems
  •  Experience using Java, ZeroMQ (or other message brokers), or Google Protocol Buffers 
  • Experience with high-speed networking concepts 
  • Familiarity with code repositories such as GIT and Subversion (SVN) 
  • Familiarity with the Agile (SCRUM) development methodology using continuous integration and delivery and Atlassian products
