Perform routine engineering duties involving calculations and drawing checks for technical accuracy. Work closely with team drafters, team supervisors, mentor, and other specialists.
The engineering responsibilities include developing an efficient design utilizing, whenever possible, standard Fabcon details
The engineer is also responsible for providing a building design in accordance with the architectural and structural drawings, specifications and all applicable building codes
Provide calculations on projects within the assigned team
Review the contract documents and provide efficient designs for building, connections, and precast panels in accordance with contract documents
Handle issues that may arise in the field or during the design process. Examples: Providing a field detail to repair a panel missing the embedded plates for a structural beam connection or coordinating with Sales and Project Management to address unique design aspects.
Other duties as assigned
B.S. degree in Civil Engineering (required); structural engineering emphasis (preferred)
Problem solving abilities
Basic understanding of engineering skills and the ability to extract design concepts/information from architectural and structural documents
Knowledge of design standards for precast concrete products (ACI, PCI) and steel members (AISC)
Familiarity with local building codes (IBC)
Ability to translate technical guidance received into usable data applicable to the particular engineering assignment (involves limited responsibility)
Engineer-in-Training (EIT) Certification
Work with a computer for extended periods of time
Use of telephone and video-conferencing technology
Work area is an office environment that is quiet with some ambient noise, climate controlled, fluorescent lighting
