Provide students of a construction related program with a real world learning environment in commercial construction (with the primary focus of drafting/engineering, precast concrete) while bolstering Fabcon’s effectiveness and timeliness in responding to drafting volume demands.

There will be an intern project completed over the course of employment that includes a report-out presentation to given at the end of the internship.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Undertake training regarding drafting, construction, manufacturing systems, best practices, as well as the overall function and purpose of the company

  • Provide support services to various Fabcon drafting process improvement projects, which may include: producing miscellaneous sketches and details for standards libraries, working in Microsoft Word/Excel templates to create or update standards and training manuals

  • Review project architectural and structural information for drafting scope

  • Attend departmental and other meetings as required

  • Coordinate drafting projects with others, such as other departments, outsources, and third party vendors.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Actively pursuing degree in a construction related program

Other Required Qualifications:

  • Good oral and written communication skills

  • High scanning accuracy and high spatial aptitude

  • Well organized, detail orientated and able to meet project deadlines

  • Able to work with others

  • Able to focus on any given task

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office

  • Proficient in AutoCAD software

  • Able to read and comprehend construction documents and drawings (Architectural/Structural drawings)

  • Motivated to participate in a fast paced, learning environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in drafting, manufacturing or construction

  • Higher level standing in completing degree program

Physical Requirements:

  • Office: Move 25lbs (not for all jobs, reasonable accommodations will be made), work with a computer for extended periods of time

Work Environment:

  • Office: Quiet with some ambient noise, climate controlled, fluorescent lighting
