The  Product Specialist II provides technical service, support, and training to meet and exceed customer expectations. Supports and develops both dealer and customer relationships. This individual must be dependable, driven, and willing to travel.

Critical 55%

  • Serves as a primary point of contact for dealers, end users, and field sales regarding “in-the-field” technical needs.
  • Coordinates sales programs to promote new markets, improve competitive position in the territory, and ensure accomplishment of financial / budgetary goals.
  • Conducts product demonstrations and field days of key products to promote sales within territory.

Productivity / Job Knowledge 20%

  • Assists with field requirements related to warranty and repair claims.
  • Participates in product improvement and enhancement efforts.
  • Identifies market potential, estimates potential sales, and develops new contacts with potential dealers in the territory. 
  • Travels assigned territory with a focus on customer and dealer satisfaction, product training, field service, product testing, and sales.
  • Collects field data on equipment use, customer requirements, and industry trends.
  • Proactively works with engineering, business development, sales and marketing on a projects approved by the company.
  • Plans travel schedule ahead of time and submits accurate and timely reports.

Requirements

Qualifications and Essential Skills:

  • An Associate’s degree or two-year certificate in vocational technologies/industrial arts; or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
  • Up to 60% travel is required.
  • A minimum of 1 year experience as a Product Specialist I, or equivalent is preferred. 
  • Extensive experience in all aspects of supplier / distributor relationships.
  • Strong understanding of customer and market dynamics in the industry.
  • Ability to submit accurate and timely reports.
  • Knowledge and/or experience in the installation of hydraulics and control systems. Experience with truck mounted or mobile equipment is preferable.
  • Ability to work with hand tools is required. Will use own hand tools and company provided specialty tools.
  • Ability to navigate computer systems/databases and create basic spreadsheets and word documents.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, distinguish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Meet monthly and annual facetime goals. (Seems like a goal.)
  • Successful completion of Eaton Mobile Hydraulics and Asmark Operator Training Classes id required.
  • Annual certification on John Deere and Raven controllers is required.  (Additional controllers will be added when applicable.)
  • Acceptable driving record.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts.  The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet unless working in the field.  Field work can entail noise, heat, and humidity along with exposure to fertilizer and deicing chemicals. The noise level in the work area is usually quiet, but the employee may be exposed to shop noises for limited periods of time. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles in the plant shop.  The noise level in the plant shop environment is usually loud.
