In 2017, JFF launched the Center for Apprenticeship & Work-Based Learning (the Center) to spur mainstream adoption of innovative and high-quality apprenticeship and work-based learning programs. The Center works to expand apprenticeship and work-based learning programs into new industries, and fosters access and success for a broader, more diverse group of workers. About the Position: 
We’re looking for a Senior Program Manager with at least five of experience in apprenticeship, work-based learning, workforce development, or a related field, in particular on behalf of underserved populations. This person will be responsible for managing the implementation of multiple projects focused on apprenticeship and work-based learning models and systems for youth and adults who aspire to succeed but have been locked out of the labor market, including through the provision of technical assistance and field leadership. We’re seeking someone with experienced in project and grant management and experienced leading multiple projects and able to balance implementation details with larger strategic priorities. We are also seeking someone with on-the-ground experience with community-based organizations that serve low-income populations.  This position will report to an Associate Director or Program Director, and will work closely with apprenticeship stakeholders and employers as well as community colleges, workforce boards, community based organziations and others. Our team welcomes a collaborative teammate who will promote knowledge of the Center and its impact.  

What you'll do: 

  • Work to support key areas of work including: developing apprenticeship and work-based learning programs, building partnerships, apprenticeship program registration, employer engagement, and other types of workforce development and education strategies. 
  • Manage programmatic operations, including meetings and convenings, webinars and  and partnership development and management. 
  • Coordinate and provide technical assistance to grantees and partners in shaping their policies and programs, in particular so that underserved populations succeed in apprenticeships. 
  • Conduct primary and secondary research to identify and analyze best practices for finding and supporting populations with high barriers to academic and job success. Support and gather data for project evaluation, analysis, data collection, and data quality reviews with grantees, third party evaluators, and other members of the project team.  
  • Serve as a content expert for the Center’s efforts through writing blogs, creating policy briefs and content that shares insights about program outcomes and learnings.  Much of this work will motivate and influence diverse stakeholders, and involve providing coaching or consulting to senior-level leaders.  
  • Manage and coordinate projects, balancing multiple priorities, and meeting deadlines in a collaborative and fast-paced environment and; lead or support the development of a range of activities including generating reports, proposals, tools, and resources.

Who you are: 

  • Belief in JFF's core values and apply those values to all areas of your work.
  • At least five years of experience in apprenticeship, workforce development or a related field. 
  • Strong understanding of populations that face barriers to success and the strategies required to help them succeed.
  • Strong analytical, research and writing skills, including experience generating reports and proposals.
  • Strong project management skills with a proven track record of leading large, complex projects that include coordination with multiple partners and funders.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaborate across multiple projects and teams. 
  • Compelling verbal and written communication skills with the ability to share the story of the Center to internal and external facing audiences.
  • Value diversity, equity and inclusion as an applied practice to all areas of work, including program, partnership and team management. 
  • Able to communicate clearly and concisely orally and in writing to a public audience. 
  • Able to communicate with senior leaders, executives, and large groups. 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, especially Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, and Salesforce proficiency preferred
  • Content creation and expertise in one or more directly related fields, such as apprenticeship, technical assistance, workforce or economic development.
  • Willing to travel (up to 15%).
