About the Position:
The Senior Program Manager (SPM) is a member of JFF’s Work Unit which executes multimillion-dollar initiatives that integrate educational opportunities, workforce initiatives, and economic partnerships to help adults move into and through postsecondary education and into jobs paying family-sustaining wages. 

Reporting to the Associate Director, the SPM will primarily provide leadership as part of a core team to a project funded by a leading technology company that has launched an innovative online credentialing initiative. This project spans several main areas of work. JFF recruits and supports community colleges to deliver the credential and manages a portfolio of national and international nonprofit grantees that are implementing the credential. To advance effective delivery, JFF hosts an online learning community for community colleges and nonprofits participating in this project. In addition, the project includes conducting an evaluation to understand effective implementation strategies for the credential and how to best enable underrepresented learners to access middle-skill opportunities in IT. 

The SPM will also contribute to other workforce development projects and initiatives, including supporting a Department of Labor grant focused on developing effective support strategies for students enrolled in “boot camp” IT training programs and providing coaching and tool development for a year-long project working with community based organizations in the greater Boston area to establish stronger employer-focused educational pathways. 

What you’ll do:

  • Contribute to a range of project management activities, including funder communications, establishing effective implementation practices, responding to internal and external time-sensitive activities, and contract management
  • Lead all project activities related to the technical aspects of the online credentialing initiative, including liasing with the certificate providers, managing an online dashboard, helping community colleges and nonprofits navigate technical support systems, and aggregating, troubleshooting, and escalating issues raised by the providers
  • Provide technical assistance and coaching to a subset of community colleges and nonprofit organizations, and identify common technical assistance needs across all participating organizations
  • Manage the online learning community, including identifying priority content areas, planning virtual events, and fostering peer-to-peer learning opportunities
  • Develop and contribute to a range of external technical assistance resources and internal tools to support consistent, high-quality project delivery
  • Attend onsite meetings and site visits with the providers as well as conferences or other events on behalf of JFF
  • Oversee, develop, and submit funder qualitative and quantitative reports. 

Who you are:

  • Belief in JFF's core values and ability to apply those values to all areas of your work 
  • At least 5 years of experience in workforce development or a related field
  • Familiarity with community colleges operations and curricula or nonprofit workforce training programs strongly preferred. An interest in IT credentialing within these organizations also
  • Strong project management skills with a proven track record of leading large, complex projects that include coordination with multiple partners and funders
  • Ability to balance implementation details and  larger strategic priorities
  • Ability to communicate ideas clearly and concisely in writing and verbally to a public audiences, including senior leaders, executives, and large groups
  • Strong analytical and research skills

  • A Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
  • Ability to proactively identify and mitigate potential project-related challenges through creative problem
  • Willingness to travel up to 15% of time
