The Battery Materials division focuses on developing and manufacturing advanced materials for the automotive battery market. We are rapidly expanding this part of our business to support our aim of creating world beating products for our customers and continue our contribution to a cleaner and healthier world.
As a result, we have an exciting opportunity to join our Battery Materials sector as a Product Stewardship and EHS Coordinator for the sector. The purpose of this role is to coordinate Product Stewardship and regulatory affairs advice to meet sector demands, ensuring full compliance with chemical regulations worldwide and continued business licence to operate. It is also to lead the development of new EHS processes and EHS Management Systems, in line with Sector Quality Management Systems, and be responsible for the associated training and roll out at new and existing Johnson Matthey Battery Materials manufacturing sites.
Design and lead the development and maintenance of an electronic structure for sharing
Contribute EHS content to the design of new sector-wide processes
Design and lead the development and maintenance of Tier 1 Sector level EHS Management Systems in line with Sector and Group EHS requirements
Support sites in seeking and achieving ISO accreditations with necessary EHS Management Systems
Coordinate the Product Stewardship request logging system, supporting task prioritisation, and measure and report the performance against agreed performance levels
Deliver suitable analysis and communication of potential risks and issues to BM ExCo
Support the delivery of regulatory affairs services to BM Sector, working with the Product Stewardship Centre of Expertise (CoE), to meet business’ requirements
Monitor and support the provision of sector regulatory hazard communication information (safety data sheets and product labels) to ensure compliance with global regulatory requirements
Work with BM NPI process including Technology, Capital Projects and also CoE to ensure the timely and compliant introduction of New Products and Technologies, thus enabling sustainable business growth
Coordinate and request regulatory information from registration dossiers/Chemical Safety Reports, and ensure relevant data is entered into the Johnson Matthey Safety Data Sheet system
Work with BM Commercial and Supply Chain to coordinate timely and transparent delivery of regulatory compliance needs for raw materials, intermediates and finished products
Work with BM Operations sites and Group EHS Industrial Hygiene and Occupational Health experts to provide advice and up to date/potential future hazard information for safe use in the plants
Are you the ideal candidate?
You will have:
Knowledge of global chemical hazard classification, labelling and packaging legislation (GHS, CLP), REACH and global equivalents, Waste, COMAH, Poison Centres
A background and proficiency in chemical hazard communication systems
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret and present complex data sets in a coherent way to non-experts. Attention to detail.
Ability to build strong sustainable relationships with internal and external stakeholders
Able to prioritise work to deliver in line with sector expectations
