Summary:

The Director/Sr. Director, Corporate Quality will report to the COO and build the corporate Quality system that will encompass engineering, manufacturing, operations, and supply-chain. Candidate will be responsible for leading the development, implementation and harmonization of Mattson Technology strategic quality and manufacturing process plans and objectives, and attainment of quality and compliance goals across all factory sites for Mattson. The Dir/Sr. Dir, Corporate Quality is also accountable for assuring that Mattson has no significant quality issues or regulatory actions by government agencies. The Dir/Sr. Dir, Corporate Quality manages a department of approximately 5-10 associates to assure consistency of approach and optimal utilization and development of talent for the Corporate Quality group.

Primary Responsibilities:

The Dir/Sr. Dir, Corporate Quality will work within a global environment and will have a strong technical foundation and aptitude coupled with the ability to be a collaborative facilitator and leader championing the overall mission of Mattson Corporate Quality. He/she will provide strategic worldwide Quality Systems harmonization and guidance necessary to gain and maintain global quality standards of excellence for Mattson for all new and marketed products. He/She will also oversee the development and implementation of manufacturing processes to maintain proper product functionality as well as cost efficiency; ensures the engineering team and other manufacturing departments work together cohesively and is responsible for the development of equipment to aid in the manufacturing process; leads and directs the work of assigned manufacturing engineers and project engineers.  Additionally, he/she will have proven creativity and experience in planning, developing, and executing Quality Systems initiatives in order to maintain world class Quality Systems standards. To meet these requirements, the successful candidate will be directly responsible for Corporate Quality leadership.
 

Principle Duties and Responsibilities (essential functions):


Thinks Out of the Box to optimize Corporate Quality goals and business value and plans and directs resources and activities of Corporate Quality.
Ensures quality systems standards are pro-actively identified and translated into effective and streamlined company-wide processes.
Create policies related to quality for the organization while assessing appropriate levels of risk associated with specific policy requirements. Responsible for improving quality systems by reducing complexity and increasing effectiveness.
Identify and address gaps related to all aspects of product quality (e.g., quality systems, people), including opportunities for ongoing innovation and improvements.
Work closely with Product teams and maintenance personnel to prevent problems with products and tooling/fixtures.
Assist in developing plant layout in planning rearrangement of facilities, equipment and operations for better utilization of space.
Ensure that all manufacturing product specifications are developed and testing procedures are in place before starting up vendors/subcontractors.
Assures the absence of regulatory compliance actions by global government agencies through the design and governance of robust, efficient and consistent Corporate Quality Systems, internal and external audit programs, and inspection readiness programs.
Proactively identifies and alerts organization of quality issues/complaints in time to resolve potential adverse effects to the customer, company image/reputation and/or the business.
Able to assist in reducing cost through re-engineering product/material.
Assures all supplier quality systems are consistent with Corporate Quality standards.
Assures appropriate support for all ISO and Regulatory inspections.
Directs the preparation of the department budgets and maintains operating costs within constraints of those budgets.
Build strong relationships with internal and external leaders across the organization related to quality and compliance plan issues.
Support all current and new product introductions.
Inspire, motivate and communicate vision to associates, peers, and regional leadership personnel to  build consensus toward adoption of, and commitment to, appropriate standards for Corporate Quality.
Serve as the leader of the Quality Leadership Team, providing leadership, advice and expertise on issues related to quality.
Manage the development of personnel to support the on-going business needs including identifying and developing successors for critical positions.

Supervisory Responsibility:
This position manages all employees of the department and is responsible for the performance management and hiring of the employees within that department.

 

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.

 

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time position, with hours of work that are typical in a global, semiconductor manufacturing environment.

 

Travel:
This position requires up to 25% travel. Some of the travel is international.

 

Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, industrial, or manufacturing engineering.


7 + years of progressive experience in Quality, Operations, and/or Manufacturing Engineering.
Management experience in Quality with experience in manufacturing engineering preferred.
