As a subject matter expert you will apply your experienced knowledge and mastery of advanced engineering theories, principles, concepts, standards, and methods to ensure assigned work remains consistent with program objectives, costs, schedules, performance criteria, and existing policies. You will provide professional electronics engineering work involved in the application of advanced theories, concepts, principles, and processes to the acquisition, development, and sustainment of phased radar array systems, including distributed receiver/exciters, processors, operating system, middleware, sensor manager, and active electronically steerable array (AESA) elements. Additional duties may include the following:
Work with Government and program office contractor personnel to lead significant and complex radar work performed by private industry, such as electronic circuits, circuit elements, equipment, systems, and associated phenomena concerned with electromagnetic or acoustical wave energy or electrical information, resulting in a wide area surveillance (WAS) system for military operations using Moving Target Indicator (MTI) radar for real-time detection of moving air, ground and maritime targets, rotating antennas, and low, slow-flying, fixed and rotary wing aircraft, and a Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) mode used for terrain imaging, locating stationary targets, and providing battle damage assessment
Perform duties involved in research, development, testing and evaluation, fabrication, manufacture, and installation of the radar subsystem
Enforce compliance with Open System Architecture (OSA) standard for the radar subsystem, known as the Common Open Architecture Radar Programs (COARPs) Specification. This allows the sensor to be more easily upgraded with improved or additional modes throughout the life cycle of the weapon system
Research, analyze, and determine available options or the feasibility of different advanced approaches to resolve complex program issues; define concepts and criteria for future radar modes and resolve major controversial problems in the current program
Provide creative recommendations to alter standard practices, equipment, devices, processes and known techniques
Formulate and propose new products and/or theories pertaining to new applications of existing products and assesses the impact of new technology on current systems and processes
Systematically apply expertise in electronics engineering to craft new or improved radar equipment, materials, instrumentation, devices, systems, processes, techniques, and/or procedures
Apply experimental theories, new applications or developments to improve operations and/or resolve unique or complex/controversial problems, conditions or issues
Administer the resources required to execute the program, and recommend funding, schedule and work adjustments based on project evaluations
We are searching for someone with the following set of skills:
Familiarity with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools (i.e., IBM Rationale DOORS and Rhapsody, MATLAB), MIL-HDBK-516 Airworthiness Certification Criteria, and MIL-STD-1796 Avionics Integrity Program
Deep understanding of Manual of Regulations and Procedures for Federal Radio Frequency Management
Experience in reviewing and writing technical documents and reports
Proven critical thinking skills
Proactive and responsive team member
Excellent written and verbal interpersonal skills
Acquisition Professional Development Program (APDP) certification(s) recommended; i.e., Level 2 or 3 in an area such as Test & Evaluation (T&E); Systems Planning, Research, Development, and Engineering-Systems Engineering (SPRDE-SE); or Systems Planning, Research, Development, and Engineering-Program Systems Engineer (SPRDE-PSE)
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering (Required)
Master’s degree in related engineering or scientific field (Required)
Minimum 15 years’ experience in related work
Active Top Secret clearance required
