Summary: Under the direction of the Controller, the Project Accounting Manager will supervise and manage all accounting and financial activities relating to the company’s contract projects.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned to meet business needs.
Supervise project accountant(s) and oversee all project accounting activities.
Work closely with all project managers to monitor the progress of projects, investigate variances, approve expenses, and ensure project billings are issued and payments collected.
Coach and develop the Project Accounting staff.
Effectively communicate with project managers, senior management, and clients.
Manage revenue recognition and project cost accruals on FFP, T&M and Cost-Plus contracts; identifying and evaluating trends; analyzing variances; initiating any corrective actions or adjustments.
Prepare various monthly financial reports, including project profitability, and complete an analysis of project financial results to determine accuracy and completeness of information.
Review project monthly accounting activity information and approve entries for input into the corporate accounting system.
Review and approve transfers of project related labor and expense.
Review and approve any write-offs for labor and expense billings
Participate in bid & proposal budgeting processes and contract review efforts to ensure profitability during bid, and subsequent contract negotiation and award.
Responsible for project set-up, administration and maintenance in Deltek Vision accounting system.
Review and approve FFP, T&M and Cost-Plus invoices for accuracy, ensuring invoices meet the contractual requirements.
Analyze and report on DSO for the company, while incorporating a plan to reduce unbilled balances and aged receivables.
Assess problems as they may arise and develop a solution that best fits the issue, delegate to responsible individuals the actions to be taken, and follow through to ensure completion.
Ensure all financial activities and requirements relating to project close-outs are carried out in a timely manner.
Assist with annual Incurred Cost Submissions, ensuring adequacy and compliance with FAR and WSDOT regulations and by pulling documents and making the necessary copies as needed.
Interact with clients, prime contractors and subcontractors to ensure company in compliance with contract requirements.
Maintain up-to-date working knowledge of various government regulations applicable to project contracts.
Maintain files and documentation thoroughly and accurately, in accordance with company policy and accepted accounting practices.
Performs other duties as needed.
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or business administration.
At least 7 years accounting experience including 3+ years of experience managing and developing staff, and 5 years of government contracting experience.
Thorough knowledge of government contract accounting in accordance with GAAP, DCAA, CAS, and FAR.
Must have demonstrated leadership and initiative with process improvement.
Must have strong experience with Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, vlookups) and Word.
Experience with Deltek Vision a plus.
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to multi-task, work under pressure, and meet required deadlines.
Strong customer service orientation and communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact effectively with all levels of staff and management with varying degrees of financial knowledge.
Compensation - $90,000 - $110,000 per year base salary
