SUMMARY: The Electrician Apprentice will work alongside the licensed Electrician on a daily basis supporting both civil and tower site construction crews in the installation, maintenance and decommission of electrical systems. Taking direction from the Electrician, this individual will work with AC/DC power to assemble and install electrical equipment. Candidate must be willing and able to operate hand tools, power tools and other construction equipment and machinery on a daily basis in all outdoor weather environments (80-90% of all electrical work is done outside and continuing work in the elements is often a necessity). All duties must be performed in accordance with OSHA, NAFTA 70E & NEC GUIDELINES and other worker safety standards while keeping high quality, accountability and budget timelines in mind.  

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work on and around electrical components including but not limited to conduit (cutting, threading, bending and fabricating) installations, cabling, grounding and various connectors.  
  • Work on de-energized circuits, with exposure to energized circuits.
  • Installation and decommission of batteries.
  • Install, modify and fabricate cables according to specifications.
  • Perform trenching, site layout and digging ditches.
  • Prepare materials for daily projects: prep truck and trailer with necessary items to complete scheduled build.
  • Sit for the exam and become licensed electrician after successfully completing required formal and on-the-job training..

  • Tower/Rescue
  • First Aid/BBP @ CPR
  • SACW IIPP
  • PPE use and requirements
  • Lock out  Tag out
  • RF Awareness
  • SACW on board/protocols
  • Rigging
  • GHS (formally MSDS)
  • Special equipment (aerial lift, forklift, Back hoe, capstan etc.)

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Valid driver’s license with clean driving history; and ability to successfully complete DOT certification process.
  • Minimum 6 months to 1 year related electrical experience.
  • At least one year of electrical schooling (industrial, commercial, or IBEW training). Two years preferred.
  • Ability to use hand tools and work from blueprints.
  • Technical understanding/ability.
  • Use job related equipment and facilities properly, including the maintenance of tools and work sites.
  • Ability to use GPS functions; moderate computer skills including Basic Office Suite, etc. (Outlook, Excel, Word, Zip Files, etc.), take detailed pictures with a digital camera and successfully use other job related technical equipment.
  • Must be able to work in a team environment and independently.
  • Ability to read, comprehend and carryout instructions.
  • Requires the ability to stoop, crawl, bend at knees and waist, lift equipment and tools (up to 75 lbs.), etc.
  • Ability to travel for weeks at a time with long and unpredictable hours.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to do the following:
