WBEZ has an opening for a podcast intern. Our podcast interns will be involved with the weekly production workflow of several of our podcasts. You will learn how to book guests, engineer in-studio and recording out in the field. You will also assist with segment research, fact checking, posting content to social media and edit audio. By the end of their internship, you will have produced work to include in your portfolio.
Potential interns should be familiar with a variety of different podcasts beyond The Daily or This American Life. You should have some experience with editing audio or video, either through student media, relevant coursework or personal projects. Film majors who are interested in sound design are encouraged to apply.
Application Deadline is: Friday April 5, 2019
How We Select Interns
Our intern selection process is structured to gauge your writing and news judgement. The first round is us reading through cover letters and resumes. The second round is an interview with our selection committee, where we ask you to give story pitches and feedback about some of our programming . If you are second-round candidate, interviews will either be in person or via Skype if you are out of town.
Don’t Forget Your Cover Letter!
Cover letters help us learn a little bit about you, and what you hope to get out of an internship. It also gives us a sample of your writing style. Your cover letter should tell us why you want to pursue a career in journalism and media. We want to learn about your career goals and what type of skills you want to learn or strengthen in an internship. Want to make your cover letter really stand out? Include links to your portfolio or links to any news writing samples, podcasts, or story packages you may have done.
Applications without a cover letter will not be accepted.
