About the Job
The Staff Accountant assists the Accounting Manager in the preparation and maintenance of CPM’s financial records and transactions.
Prepare and post monthly journal entries for review, providing support for transactions.
Analyze and prepare balance sheet reconciliations.
Prepare bank reconciliations.
Maintain fixed asset records and prepare and post journal entries for depreciation expense, assets placed in service and disposals.
Month-end amortization of prepaid expenses.
Month-end revenue reconciliations and classifications.
Monthly commission calculations and accrual entries.
Liaison with Corporate Sponsorship tea, including monthly invoices, applying payments, review of aging and ad hoc requests.
Assist in the preparation of financial reports such as financial statements, variance analysis, and interim grant financial reporting.
Assist in work-paper preparation for annual audit, tax filings and state and federal annual reporting.
Other responsibilities include but are not limited to participation in special projects or ad hoc analyses as assigned.
Skills and Qualities We Are Looking For
Undergraduate degree in Accounting.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, vlookups, etc.)
Strong organizational skills with the ability to meet deadlines.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Intellectual curiosity, initiative, and strong work ethic.
Positive team player who can collaborate with other teams throughout the organization.
Strong attention to detail and ability to assess accuracy and data integrity.
Managing multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
You're a problem solver and are able to answer accounting and financial questions by researching and interpreting data.
You are able to quickly learn and adapt to new software and digital workflows.
Ability to keep information confidential.
Candidates who will rise to the top will have:
Minimum 2 solid years accounting experience at a non-profit organization.
CPA or CPA candidate.
Public accounting experience preferred.
