The Role: Maintenance Manager

Reporting To: Operations Manager

Location: Aronui Feedlot

The Maintenance Manager leads the site maintenance function in providing both a reactive and proactive, multi-skilled maintenance service on all operational plant, equipment and facilities infrastructure. Responsible for planning, scheduling all work carried out in a timely manner. Responsible for increasing site operational effectiveness, reduce down time and manage improvements plans through the implementation of Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s).  The Maintenance Manager is responsible for maintaining and modelling exceptional workplace health and safety levels and ensuring environmental impact is minimised and compliant.

Duties & responsibilities

Duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • Maintain and service all machinery, e.g. feed trucks, loaders, Toyotas, bobcats.
  • Undertake all fixed maintenance of mill machinery
  • Responsible for ordering all spare parts, oils and fuels for the feedlot
  • Operate machinery when required.
  • Work closely with mill Manager with regard to scheduling and service requirements.
  • Identify new suppliers and liaise with suppliers. 
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in maintenance areas.
  • Supervise and train maintenance staff. 
  • Perform your job in a safe manner in line with AACo safety programs and procedures
  • Take responsibility for your safe work behaviour
  • Manage the maintenance program for all vehicles, plant and machinery
  • Undertake regular services
  • Carry out repairs and overhauls as required
  • Complete records of work carried out
  • Maintain spare parts

Seeking an individual with the following qualities:

  • Diesel Mechanic or Diesel Fitter trade qualification
  • Experience working with trucks is a MUST
  • Current driver’s license & truck license (or willingness to obtain ASAP)
  • Experience with a diverse range of trucks and heavy machinery
  • Electrical experience highly regarded
  • Ability to work well independently without supervision, as well as part of a team
  • Ability to complete paperwork and job cards thoroughly and accurately is a must
  • Self motivation, initiative and the ability to own a job from start to finish is essential
  • Must be reliable, trustworthy and thorough
  • Strong focus on workplace safety and work ethics

 Qualifications & Experience

  • Previous experience in a similar role
  • Diesel Mechanic trade qualification
  • Leadership experience
  • Experience in welding, carpentry, concreting and/or fabrication preferred
  • Relevant manufacturing/engineering degree is preferred
  • Extensive plant level experience with significant proven management experience
  • Technical capability and understanding
  • Experience of managing Profit and Loss (P&L) responsibilities for maintenance
