Job Description: Payroll Manager

The Payroll Manager is responsible for managing the Company’s Payroll Process with one staff at Bloom Energy. The ideal candidate has a passion for payroll with proven track record of completing payroll cycle processing. An integral part of the role is working closely with management in Accounting, Finance and Human Resources. The Payroll Manager works with all Bloom Employees from their first day orientation and with any payroll related matters that arise during their employment. The Payroll Manager should maintain a professional attitude, be a creative thinker and problem solver and possess good customer service skills.

Location: The position will be based in our San Jose, CA office

Role and Responsibilities:

• Manage and review processing of US payroll and bonus payroll using ADP Workforce Now
• Process, review and manage Taiwan payroll using a third party service provider
• Maintain accurate payroll records and employee personnel files and review process changes accurately and timely
• Ensure that all tax, garnishments, elective deductions, and vacation/sick accruals are accurate
• Ensure payroll is processed in an accurate, compliant and timely manner
• Work closely with the benefits manager to ensure accurate benefit deductions (Medical, HSA, LOA)
• Work closely with the HR department to improve HRIS, timekeeping, and benefit vendor’s compliance
• Partner with Equity Administrator to manage the accurate treatment and posting of stock transactions
• Understand proper taxation of employer paid benefits, including for ISO and NQ Options, RSU, PSU, ESPP and 401(k) contributions and funding
• Prepare relevant weekly, monthly, quarterly and year-end reports
• Respond to employee inquiries and requests regarding payroll matters
• Answer inquiries regarding employment verification and respond to employment compensation inquiries
• Ensure 401(k) annual financial and actuarial information reporting and compilation of data specs for 401(k) testing and audit
• Support data requirements for worker’s compensation insurance audits
• Provide support to financial auditors for quarterly reviews, annual audit and corporate tax compliance
• Perform SOX review and maintain controls to ensure payroll processes are compliant with established department controls

Technical Skill Requirements:

• 5-10 years of payroll experience preferable
• Knowledge of Wage and Hour Laws (Federal and State) to include California and other states
• Knowledge and understanding of processing wage garnishments
• Knowledge and understanding of processing benefit deductions
• Strong attention to detail and time management skills
• Excellent customer service skills
• Detail oriented and comfortable researching and resolving issues quickly
