PRIMARY FUNCTION

The Sr. Redhat/Network Engineer performs a variety of complex tasks that include planning, documenting, analyzing, implementing, upgrading and monitoring security measures for the protection of computer networks and information. Implement AWS services for various Federal customers in both commercial and secure cloud environments.


DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (includes but not limited to)

• Monitors and analyzes networks, applications and information systems to determine security posture and makes recommendations for improvement
• Write various hardening scripts
• Establishes computer and physical security by developing standards, policies and procedures
• Coordinates with IT and facilities security and recommends improvements
• Monitors use of data files and regulates access to safeguard information
• Maintains network and system access by providing information, resources and technical support
• Ensures authorized access by investigating improper access, revoking access, reporting violations and monitoring information requests
• Safeguards systems by performing regular backups, developing procedures for source code management and disaster preparedness and recommending improvements
• Develops security awareness by providing briefings, educational material and on-going communication
• Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publication and maintaining Continuous Education Units (CEU)
• Encrypts data transmissions and erects firewalls to conceal confidential information as it is being transmitted


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

• Knowledge of LAN/WAN architecture
• Knowledge of TCP/IP and Networking
• Knowledge of Linux based email systems
• Expert knowledge of shell scripting
• Significant hands on experience with Redhat/Linux administration and AWS cloud services
• Strong understanding of DOD Hardening/STIGs
• Strong knowledge and experience implementing information and network security policies and standards
• Demonstrated skills in problem solving and risk mitigation
• Working knowledge of network protocols, routers, hubs, and switches
• Intermediate knowledge of Access Control Lists and security hardening (DISA STIG checklists, etc.)
• Strong attention to detail, technical writing skills and verbal communication is a must
• Top Secret Clearance (Must be able to obtain SCI)
• 5 Years of experience in networking and information assurance


DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

• Preferred experienced with DoD Incident Handling and Incident Response requirements and execution (SOC/CIRT and tier 3 level experiences preferred).
• Department of Treasury experience preferred
• CompTIA Security+ CE Certification or higher preferred
• Red Hat Certified Administrator preferred
