Description

The Data Center Technician monitors facilities security, HVAC, electrical, and mechanical systems including the first response to any issues that arise to those systems. Duties provided are in the form of clerical, technical assistance on computer hardware, and logistics. The position performs tasks including, but not limited to updating, creating, or verifying logs, inventories, work orders and other forms of documentation used within the facility:

• Scheduled hours will be Monday – Friday 12:00 pm to 8:30 pm
• Function as part of our team in supporting the 24/7/365 operation of a Data Center and provide facility support for mission critical systems
• Provide first response to customers, vendors, facility or other internal needs
• Follow all pre-existing IT-CNP documentation and guidelines when performing standardized tasks
• Provide physical escorts for customers/vendors and issue or update security badges and access requirements
• Test and Run-cycle diesel generator
• Test, repair and replace rack mounted UPS
• General maintenance and repair to Data Center and surrounding offices
• Ship and Receive customer deliveries including data servers, data racks or other parcels
• Assist IT-CNP technical team in placing or installing equipment within data center not limited to servers, network switches or data racks and coaxial or copper cabling
• Maintain data center underfloor, wiring closets
• Utilize IT-CNP provided computer equipment to login into problem management system to assist in maintenance documentation of computer equipment
• Reboot servers or network devices as requested by IT-CNP technical staff
• Clean, prepare, or otherwise install fiber, coaxial, copper, or other specialty cabling into data center


Required Skills and Experience

• High School Diploma or equivalent plus the completion of at least 1 other higher-level school or training program
• Proficient knowledge in all Microsoft products and Microsoft Operating Systems
• Ability to learn and retain information in a fast-paced environment and to adapt to new technologies or expectations through one-on-one, group, or self-directed training
• General knowledge of HVAC, electrical and mechanical systems
• Ability to lift 30lbs from floor to shoulder level unassisted
• Ability to walk or stand for extended periods of time
• Ability to work at a desk/computer for extended periods of time
