Hyatt Hotels Corporation’s RiseHY Program has partnered with Skills for Chicagoland’s Future to offer an exciting opportunity for Chicago’s unemployed and underemployed young adults. If you are between 18-26 years of age, this is your chance to position yourself for immediate and long-term success in hospitality at Hyatt.

Program Overview

RiseHY is a new global program designed to pair the hospitality industry’s career opportunities with young people who need them. As part of the initiative, Hyatt hotels around the world commit to hiring 10,000 Opportunity Youth – by 2025.  As an extension, this new opportunity between Skills for Chicagoland’s Future’s Beyond the Diploma program and Hyatt, is focused on Chicago’s young adult job seekers.

In this program, participants will work at Hyatt, get on the job training along with a company mentor, while gaining a strong understanding of the hospitality industry. Skills for Chicagoland’s Future will be your guide through the hiring process, as well as provide access to supportive services and external mentoring.

Your Career Pathway at Hyatt:

Starting your hospitality journey, participants will take the first step in their career pathway at Hyatt through a series of behavior based games that objectively measure cognitive and personality traits. There is no right or wrong way to play the games because every trait makes you a great fit for a certain job!

After achieving initial success, participants will be guided along a defined career path, gaining promotions (all promotions are performance based) and experience leading to different roles within the company. Hyatt can take you anywhere, and give you the benefits you need for your life while doing so.

Potential options for success at Hyatt include career paths from entry-level roles into management across multiple departments, including food and beverage, culinary, housekeeping, front office and stewarding.

The Roles:

Housekeeping Room Attendant

Starting as a Housekeeping Room Attendant, participants will go down a pathway that may include Housekeeping Lead/Inspector, Private Branch Exchange (PBX) Operator, and Housekeeping Coordinator.

Bell Attendant

Starting as a Bell Attendant, participants will go down a pathway that may include Bell Captain, Concierge, and Front Desk Agent.

Food & Beverage

Starting as a Server, participants will go down a pathway that may include Lead Server, Supervisor, and Assistant Manager.

Steward

Stewards operate in several areas including Front of House and Culinary and may include roles such as Buffet Attendant, Server, Prep Cook, Line Cook and Supervisor.

Culinary

The exciting world of Hyatt’s Culinary opportunities may include Line Cook, Sous Chef and Supervisor.

Program Supports:

Program participants will receive access to supportive services and mentoring resources throughout the program. Additionally, program participants will be interacting with other participants and operating as a cohort, providing peer relationships and team building.
