Description

Chemonics seeks a Graphic Design Specialist for the Global Health Supply Chain-Procurement and Supply Management (GHSC-PSM) project in the Communications, Learning, Evidence & Analytics for Results (CLEAR) Division located in our Arlington, VA office.  The CLEAR team supports the GHSC-PSM project and is made up of the Knowledge Management and Communications (KMC), M&E, and Data Analytics teams. The Graphic Design Specialist will participate in creative discussions to form conceptual ideas, design and develop infographics, charts, maps, and other visual content; determine the best way to present data, tell stories, messages, ensure all graphics and visualizations are brand compliant; and design and build publication-ready visualizations using unstructured and structured data. We seek innovation and highly motivated individuals to work on our team.  We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world.  
 
Responsibilities:
  • Participate in creative brainstorming sessions to develop conceptual ideas around project objectives 
  • Take direction from written or spoken ideas and convert them seamlessly into images, layouts, and other designs 
  • Design and develop infographics, charts, maps, and other visual content for publications, reports, marketing materials, social media, and other mediums  
  • Select the best presentation of data, success stories, and approach to convey messages to different audiences using qualitative and quantitative insights  
  • Illustrate concepts by designing rough layout of art and copy regarding arrangement, size, type size, color, style, and related aesthetic concepts  
  • Develop abstract concepts and messages into compelling content 
  • Design and build publication-ready data visualizations using unstructured and structured data 
  • Create innovative, original designs and layouts with a strong sense of typography and appropriate use of color and fonts for readability
  • Prepare files for four-color printing and troubleshoots technical issues in graphic files for pre-press and printing
  • Comply with USAID branding guidelines and program approved Branding and Implementation Plan and Marking Plan 
  • Resolve design and visual communication challenges in a variety of formats (charts, diagrams, maps, logos, posters, brochures, Web sites, social media channels, and newsletters)
  • Retouch and update photos digitally using Adobe Photoshop CS4/CS5
  • Guide clients through the creative brief process to solicit input for the scope of the project
  • Perform other appropriate tasks to support the overall assignment, as assigned by the immediate supervisor or his/her designee 
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in job-relevant field required
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in Graphic Design, Digital Media, Communications, Public Relations, or related field 
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite products including Photoshop, Illustrator, Spark, and InDesign as well as building & customizing templates for MS Office 
  • Experience with Mac and PC proficient as well as fluency with data visualization software such as Tableau, Quikview, and other business intelligence tools 
  • Knowledge of USAID branding requirements and policies
  • Experience managing multiple projects for USG funded-projects
  • Demonstrated success in planning and implementing data visualization projects
  • Demonstrated ability to produce graphical products
  • Ability to communicate effectively with clients, colleagues, and management 
  • Attention to detail with pixel perfection 
  • Video editing experience a plus
  • Experience designing/troubleshooting templates in Microsoft Office a plus
  • Demonstrated leadership, versatility and integrity
