Description

Chemonics seeks a Technical Team Lead for the anticipated follow-on to the USAID Maternal Child Survival Program (MCSP) based in Washington, DC. MCSP is the USAID Bureau for Global Health flagship maternal and child health program and is a multi-partner, global USAID cooperative agreement aimed at introducing and supporting high-impact health interventions in 25 priority countries with the goal of ending preventable maternal and child deaths within a generation. MCSP focuses on increasing coverage and utilization of high-quality reproductive, maternal, newborn and child health interventions at the household, community, and health facility levels.
 
The Technical Team Lead will provide technical leadership and oversight of RMNCH activity implementation and will be responsible for the technical outcomes of the program. S/he will also support monitoring and evaluation, knowledge management, and participate in global forums, technical working groups, and conferences. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world.
 
 
Responsibilities include:
 
  • ​Provide leadership, oversight, management, and overall coordination of RMNCH technical activities in coordination with the senior management team
  • Support the development and implementation of key management systems that will support project planning, reporting, and performance management
  • Support work planning and the development of the monitoring, evaluation and learning plan
  • Oversee and review all technical writing products and deliverables
  • Ensure all program assistance is technically sound and appropriate for the local context, and integrate innovative practices, emerging knowledge and international best practices into program activities
  • Identify challenges, obstacles, and difficulties affecting program implementation, develop strategies to solve these problems, and work with USAID and program staff as needed to implement these strategies
  • Oversee on-going quality assurance and quality improvement for all technical activities
  • Develop and maintain relationships with partners, and key stakeholders in RMNCH at country and international levels
  • Participate in international technical working groups and conferences
  • Contribute to capacity building and training activities
  • Supervise staff and consultants
Qualifications:
 
 
  • Advanced degree in health e.g. public health, clinical nursing, medical doctor or related field
  • At least eight years of professional experience working in one of the following areas reproductive, maternal, neonatal, and child health, nutrition, immunization, HIV, and WASH programs for low-and-middle income countries, of which five years must be working in country
  • Expert knowledge of the international best practices and standards in areas such as health systems strengthening, maternal, newborn, and child health, nutrition, immunization, HIV, and WASH
  • Strong skills in data use and interpretation, and ability to adapt program activities based on learning
  • Ability to perform at a senior management level including managing staff in a matrixed system
  • Demonstrated experience at a senior level participating or advising in high level MOH, WHO, USAID etc forums/discussions/boards/technical working groups
  • Fluent English oral and written communication skills is required
  • Ability to interact professionally in a foreign language (especially French, Spanish, or Portuguese) is preferred, but not required
