Operational excellence director, GSC, GHSC-PSM

Description

Chemonics seeks an Operational Excellence Director to work with all Global Supply Chain (GSC) functional teams to lead supply chain process improvement initiatives for HIV/AIDS, anti-malarial, and population and reproductive health commodities. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world. 
 
Responsibilities include:
 
  • Identify and document best supply chain practices to serve as the basis for continuous project and process improvement initiatives
  • Design, implement, and document globally mutualized processes, systems and metrics aimed at continuous improvement
  • Develop, implement, and suggest process improvements for relevant country supply chains
  • Create key objectives and performance metrics for efficiency, productivity, and quality standards
  • Optimize the use of manpower, standard time, material, equipment and energy to ensure objectives and measurements are achieved
  • Solve problems in the relevant pharmaceutical supply chains as defined by the priorities set by the GSC Director
  • Ensure process improvement consistency with other global supply chain and global collaboration teams throughout the project
  • Manage audit programs and ensure that systems and processes are meeting key performance metrics
  • Direct and monitor the implementation of process improvement changes and ensure they are robust, sustainable and meet performance metrics
  • Responsible for proposing solutions to requests for business process improvement and analyzing requests to determine the best course of action utilizing organizational development and business process improvement methodologies
  • Lead continual improvements efforts throughout the office, including reviewing suggestions and assigning them to designated process leaders for action and, if appropriate, summarizing findings, and documenting and reporting on trends
  • Draw on industry best practices in ISO 9001, Six Sigma, and other established methodologies to support improvement interventions within the project
  • Supervise, mentor, and evaluate Operational Excellence staff, communicating clear performance goals and standards, offering regular performance feedback and prompt resolution of problems, and time and opportunity to grow and develop in key competency areas
 
Qualifications:
 
  • Minimum 8 years of experience managing supply chain process improvement initiatives; experience with HIV/AIDS, family planning, and/or malaria programs preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree required, in Business Administration, Management Systems, Engineering Process Management, or other relevant field of study 
  • Experience implementing programs in low-resource settings
  • Proven ability to create efficiencies and lead operational transformation in large, complex, global public health programs
  • Demonstrated technical knowledge, experience, and aptitude in organizational development, including business process improvement, management systems, organizational design, and/or organizational capacity building
  • Experience with ISO 9001:2015 certification, HICD, Lean Six Sigma, and/or other organizational capacity development tools required
  • Experience interacting with senior US and foreign government officials
  • Knowledge of maintaining robust strategy in collaboration with process improvement activities that fit within the overall supply chain improvement program
  • Ability to solve complex technical, managerial or operational problems and evaluate options based on relevant information, resources, well-rounded experience, and knowledge
  • Demonstrated leadership, versatility in approach to people and process management, and integrity
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communications skills; proven diplomatic and public relations skills
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing
  • Willingness to travel and work abroad a minimum of 4-8 weeks per year
  • Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity
  • Fluency in written and spoken English required; proficiency in a foreign language of USAID-supported countries desirable; knowledge of French, Spanish, or Portuguese preferred
