Description

Chemonics seeks a Communications & Design Manager to work closely with staff, leadership, and communications stakeholders in the Global Health Division (GHD), the Supply Chain Solutions (SCS) Division, the Operations, Finance, and Compliance (OFC) Division, as well as the USAID Global Health Supply Chain Program-Procurement and Supply Management (GHSC-PSM) project. A strong writer with sound judgment and the ability to think creatively, solve problems, and produce effective strategies and tools, the manager promotes our global health and supply chain solutions communications objectives. The manager writes high-quality content ensuring adherence to USAID and Chemonics’ Style Guide, tools, and templates, supports our external outreach goals by promoting our work on social media and through various mediums such as video and photography, and supports internal, project, and executive communications for GHSCO. The manager may supervise or mentor associates and/or interns and will be supervised by the C&D department director. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world. 
 
Responsibilities include:
 
  • Lead communication and outreach initiatives and planning, under the mentorship of a director, that increases visibility of Chemonics’ global health and supply chain solutions, including coordinating with the health and supply chain practices and executive leadership to position Chemonics as a go-to implementing partner and thought leader
  • Ensure Chemonics’ global health and supply chain project and divisional goals and strategies are integrated into communications activities
  • Identify, research, and write useful and engaging content for target audiences on Chemonics' and external outlets, including ChemCom, social media including Chemonics Health LinkedIn, Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook, and industry or mainstream news outlets
  • Interview executives and senior technical experts for the purpose of creating content for external audiences
  • Help directors oversee daily administration of specific digital external communication channels
  • Work with other stakeholders to develop appropriate tools, templates, and visuals as needed in GHSCO and associated projects
  • Design and deliver communications-related trainings to home and field office staff
  • Conduct short-term technical communications assignments as needed for field-based projects, including communications planning and strategy, reporting, and other communications implementation activities
  • Support new business efforts in GHSCO and throughout the company
  • Provide timely communications expertise by responding to inquiries and, depending on needs and availability, to the field by taking short-term technical assignments
  • Mentor and may supervise associates
  • Foster and demonstrate a workplace inclusive of creating opportunity, serving others, building trust, innovation and exceeding expectations
Qualifications:
 
  • Bachelor's degree required in communications, marketing, international development, or related field
  • Minimum three years of experience in strategic communications, knowledge management, or a related field
  • Ability to connect individual communications activities or products to higher-level strategies and goals
  • Ability to write story-driven content about complex technical subjects and projects that engages target audiences and enhances company's image, with appropriate level of director supervision
  • Sensitivity to diverse audiences and demonstrated good judgement about messaging
  • Interviewing skills and the interpersonal skills to establish and maintain strong working relationships with executives, senior technical experts, and a wide variety of staff around the world
  • Ability to work under deadline pressure with diverse teams and manage production schedules
  • Proficiency working with and creating digital strategies for popular social media outlets (e.g., Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Flickr, Instagram, YouTube)
  • Proficiency in MS Office (required) and Adobe Creative Suite (preferred), including Adobe Photoshop highly desired
  • Proficiency in Adobe Premiere and/or After Effects, or other video editing software, highly desired but not required
  • Willingness to travel and work abroad a minimum of 4-8 weeks per year
  • Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity
  • Fluent English required; proficiency in a second language helpful.
