Description

Chemonics seeks a Corporate Diversity and Inclusion Director for the Executive Office. The Corporate Diversity and Inclusion Director leads the implementation of Chemonics’ global diversity and inclusion (D&I) strategy to ensure it is integrated into the fabric of Chemonics culture, value and business model. The Corporate Diversity and Inclusion Director will work with global stakeholders throughout the organization to create and deliver initiatives designed to foster a culture of diversity and inclusion and ensure the long-term sustainability of D&I efforts. The successful candidate will be a champion for D&I, successfully build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, and design and execute creative ways to develop Chemonics’s approach to D&I as we continue to scale our efforts. The director will ensure D&I work aligns with Chemonics’ overall business model and will play a critical role in ensuring D&I becomes a core leadership competency for staff within the company. The Corporate Diversity and Inclusion Director will report to the President and CEO, with a dotted line reporting to the Senior Vice President of the Human Resources Division. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world.
 
Responsibilities Include:
  • Develop and implement Chemonics’ global D&I strategy focused on three critical pillars: our workforce, our workplace, and how we engage with others. Continue to refine strategy as required
  • Develop and/or identify metrics to help the human resources team and the executive office track corporate progress in promoting a more diverse and inclusive workplace; support the collection and analysis of regular internal data points that provide information on D&I
  • Promote diversity and equity in hiring and fairness in staff management and promotions
  • Recruit appropriate training facilitators and/or serve as a training facilitator for Chemonics staff on D&I issues
  • Work with the D&I Council, Employee Resource Groups and the Honoring Our Differences Committee to establish an annual D&I work plan and budget with measurable outcomes. Oversee implementation of work plan and monitors budget
  • Manage and serve as a resource for the D&I council members and Employee Resource Groups who implement specific internally focused activities
  • Partner with Human Resources, the Office of Business Conduct, the Executive Management Team, the Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI) Practice, and the Small Business Department team to implement D&I activities, programs, policies, and metrics that will attract, retain and promote a diverse workforce and foster an environment of inclusion and equity
  • Coordinate the development of training materials to help equip staff with the skills needed to attract and retain a diverse workforce
  • Work with the internal communications team to develop and implement a D&I corporate communication and branding strategy, including blogs and the development of an external webpage
  • Represent Chemonics as a subject matter expert on workplace D&I-related issues at industry conferences, learning events and business meetings
  • Supervise the D&I team, and directly supervise the Manager, to ensure successful implementation of the D&I program across the company
  • Ensure the D&I strategy is aligned with the corporate business strategy and objectives across the organization, including in our home and field offices
  • Promote staff development through coaching, mentoring, and facilitating professional growth opportunities
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as required
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree required. Advanced degree preferred
  • Minimum 8 years’ experience in business management, human resources, or another related field, including significant experience in designing and implementing D&I programs and activities.
  • Demonstrated in-depth knowledge of D&I best practices, trends and concepts. Demonstrated ability to facilitate potentially difficult or challenging conversations and be resilient
  • Shows a committed and proactive approach to D&I and to his/her own personal development in this area
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing. This includes public presentations and contribution to publications
  • Ability to analyze and draw insight from data to build appropriate metrics to drive decision-making and impact
  • Demonstrated ability to build and manage working relationships with clients, partners, and technical experts, including the ability to influence key stakeholders, drive business objectives, coach leaders and build and leverage relationships
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage competing perspectives and priorities to develop effective solutions and programs
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and supervise individuals in a matrixed organization
  • Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity
  • Ability to solve complex technical, managerial, or operational problems and evaluation options based on relevant information, resources, well-rounded experience, and knowledge
  • Strong knowledge of MS Office applications
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Experience working across diverse cultures in international development preferred
  • Willingness to travel and work abroad as required; experience working in developing countries preferred
  • Foreign language proficiency preferred
