Job Overview:

Hillel B.C. is looking for a community builder who is eager to inspire positive change in Jewish student life. The ideal candidate will be able to lead, manage, and mentor a team of programming staff that together will continue to create diverse avenues through which students can engage in Jewish campus life. This role is suited to an individual that is comfortable modeling positive Jewish Leadership while ensuring the planning and execution of Hillel BC’s programming across multiple campuses.

Reports to: Executive Director

 

What you’ll be responsible for:

As the head of our programming team, you’ll be:

  • Supporting the daily work and professional growth of Hillel’s programming team while serving as a resource and guide for the development of Social, Cultural, Religious, and Israel related programs.
  • Creating and overseeing the annual programming budget
  • Supporting our communication strategy by drafting, composing, and editing of written program material
  • Ensuring seamless communication flow between the programming team and the rest of the organization

As a senior staff team member, you’ll be:

  • Finding new opportunities to further Hillel’s reach and visibility on different campuses through relationship building and partnerships
  • Supporting our development efforts by taking part in the creation of fundraising material and events while assisting in grant-writing, as required

As a colleague and valued member of our organization, you will be:

  • Attending Hillel programs and representing Hillel at community events (this may include evenings, weekend, and holiday programming)
  • Ensuring Hillel continues to be a caring, diverse, pluralistic and welcoming Jewish home on campus

 

Employment Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
  • Minimum 4-5 years of relevant full-time work experience 
  • Proven track record of managing a dynamic and diverse team
  • Ability to collaborate and communicate across teams
  • A strong knowledge of Jewish history, holidays, customs and traditions
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Knowledge of the Hillel organization and its programs will be considered an asset
  • Willingness to travel throughout the province of British Columbia when required
  • Please note: In order to best serve the student population Hillel B.C. is open during all Jewish Holidays and approximately 2 Shabbats a month.
