You will shape Jewish life on campus as a thought partner to the Executive Director and a leader of the program team. You’ll power Hillel by supporting efforts to connect people, vital funds and resources to our mission. You will be integral to Santa Barbara Hillel’s success by developing relationships with students, university officials, lay leaders, and community members.  Serving in all of these capacities, you will directly or indirectly impact every student’s experience with Santa Barbara Hillel.


What You’ll Do:

  • Provide leadership and support to the program team, managing all information flow of the organization to keep our team on the same page
  • Create and implement our annual fundraising plan (budget of nearly one-million dollars)
  • Staff and manage our major annual fundraising event
  • Build partnerships with Hillel’s Schusterman International Center, local Jewish institutions, foundations, and UCSB administration/development office
  • Supervise marketing, public relations, publicity and promotional activities to communicate Hillel’s mission and vision
  • Work with the Executive Director to promote positive staff morale through team building, active listening, and understanding needs


On a day to day basis you will:

  • Execute all activities related to fundraising and community relations in partnership with the Executive Director, including mail campaigns and annual fundraising event
  • Mentor and supervise the Director of Student Life, ensuring support for programs and program team members
  • Meet with board members and local community members to build relationships and advance solicitation efforts
  • Oversee student engagement tracking and facilitate Santa Barbara Hillel’s participation in Hillel International’s Measuring Excellence Program
  • Act as a thought partner to the Executive Director and communicate program plans, needs, and feedback
  • Provide coverage at student programs as necessary


What You’ve Accomplished:

  • 5+ years in Jewish, experiential or higher education
  • Experience as a professional in a Jewish nonprofit organization is preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree required

Proven success with:

  • Managing a team. Excellent supervision skills and ability to coach others to achieve outcomes
  • Building relationships with leaders within education or the nonprofit space
  • Developing and/or implementing a strategic plan, including reporting and tracking data
  • Management of multiple projects while maintaining quality

What You’ll Receive:

  • Competitive salary in the nonprofit marketplace. Salary range for this position is $60,000-70,000.
