You will be at the forefront of creating and innovating Jewish life on campus.

 

Emory Hillel serves one of the most diverse Jewish populations in the US. As more than twenty percent of the undergraduate population is Jewish, Emory Hillel prides itself on partnering with different campus clubs each week, to offer some of the most unique programming in the country. Buoyed by an amazing staff, and housed in the Marcus Hillel Center, the new Director will come into a strong and dynamic program!

Emory Hillel has existed at Emory University for over sixty years, and is fortunate to call the Marcus Hillel Center its home since 2010. Approximately twenty percent of Emory University’s undergraduate population is Jewish. While Emory’s Jewish community comes from diverse backgrounds, a large demographic of its students come with a strong sense of Jewish pride and Jewish identity. As there is such a large Jewish demographic present, Emory Hillel  focuses on identifying and implementing unique and exciting ways to engage Jewish student life.

The Director will build the strategy for engaging all Jewish students on campus and support a pluralistic, dynamic community. You’ll be excellent in this role if you are charismatic, passionate about leading a team, developing financial resources, supporting students, and strengthening the ties between Emory Hillel and its community. Emory Hillel is part and parcel of the Hillels of Georgia network. The Emory Director will have oversight of the program and reports to the Executive Director of Hillels of Georgia, who will be this person’s thought partner and co-strategist.

 

 

What You’ll Do:

  • Develop and nurture Emory Hillel’s four-person programmatic team by effectively managing them, increasing communication avenues and providing professional development opportunities.

  • Work with Hillels of Georgia’s Development team to develop, execute and grow Emory Hillel’s development campaigns.

  • Inspire and organize pluralistic, diverse Jewish life on campus. Create strategies to expand the base of the Jewish student community.

  • Understand Emory Hillel’s and Hillels of Georgia’s unique culture and find opportunities for partnership and connection where these opportunities intersect.

  • Work closely with the Executive Director of Hillels of Georgia.

 

What You’ve Accomplished

  • 5 – 8 years of professional work experience. Past Hillel experience is preferred. Experience in management roles in the Jewish or secular nonprofit, higher education, or mission-driven organization world is also a plus. Success with:

    • Managing a team of professionals to accomplish their best work.

    • Financial resource development, including executing annual fundraising campaigns, cultivation, stewardship, and major gift solicitation through in-person, print, and online channels.

    • Building student engagement and leadership development programs and opportunities.

  • Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred. We will consider a range of candidates’ experiences and credentials.
