Facilities Technician – Des Moines, IA

The Facilities Technician/Maintenance Engineer is responsible for troubleshooting and making necessary repairs to assigned Kum & Go stores in a geographic area on a wide range of trades, which include: Petroleum, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, general carpentry, and equipment repair. This position will perform preventative maintenance tasks on an assigned group of Kum & Go stores on a pre-determined basis. This position will also support the activities of the Facilities department, perform special projects as needed, and maintain the company vehicle and inventory. As a Facilities Technician/Maintenance Engineer you can start and end your day at home - rather than commuting to a location to obtain your company truck. This unique role also offers flexible hours and the ability to manage your own schedule. This position requires daily travel and may require overnight stays.

What you’ll do

  • Provide troubleshooting and necessary repairs to assigned store locations; provide preventative and reactive maintenance in a variety of trades, including petroleum, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, general carpentry, and equipment repair.
  • Complete the appropriate record keeping including completing job cards, invoices, and CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) requests; complete the assigned Task-Responding to auto dispatching out of CMMS, interpreting the tasks and making decisions based upon the request.
  • Maintain responsibility for special project work, record keeping, material replenishment, and vehicle maintenance.
  • Provide on-site training and development as needed.
  • Maintain company vehicle to standard.
  • Respond to the needs and requests of clients and Kum & Go management and staff in a professional and expedient manner.

  • General computer skills to include a web-based application understanding and basic Microsoft knowledge.
  • Ability to obtain Class A certificate for Underground Storage Tank (UST).

Other key requirements

  • High School Diploma with two (2) years of practical experience in a related field or two (2) years of experience in Kum & Go store management.
  • Associate’s Degree or Industrial Maintenance certificate preferred.
