Job Description:

Reporting to our Food & Beverage Management/Supervisory team, this position professionally serves guests by providing information about the culinary and beverage selections available, helping guests to navigate the menus, collecting guests’ selections, accurately presenting and serving selected items, ensuring guest satisfaction throughout the experience and communicating effectively with team members and the management/supervisory team to prevent and resolve any issues. The am server will also be responsible for payment processing and assist in the maintenance of the restaurant area and equipment.

 

Skills and Knowledge Required:

  • Capability of offering a charismatic style of service tailored to specific guests and their needs

  • Friendly and able to build a rapport with guests to establish future business

  • Learn and retain the product knowledge relative to the position on the floor

  • Colleagues will be expected to successfully resolve any guest issues and complaints in addition to communicating all concerns to management

  • Two years of high end hotel server preferred

  • The ability to listen to, assess, and appropriately respond to information conveyed through speech

  • The ability to handle the fast pace of daytime meal periods

  • The knowledge of what is required of service team members in a business lunch setting

  • The ability to convey technical information through writing to a nontechnical audience so the recipients easily understand the information and can quickly and correctly apply it.

  • The ability to exercise the personal discipline and extra diligence to assure that projects are completed on timely basis.

  • The ability to subordinate one’s personal agenda in favor of working collaboratively with the team to achieve departmental goals

  • The ability to motivate and inspire others to work cooperatively to achieve a designated goal.

  • Maintain a flexible schedule and be willing and able to work shifts that may include days, nights, weekends and holidays.

  • Ability to effectively manage a station of up to eight (8) tables and ensure great service

  • General understanding of POS systems

  • Strong attention to detail

  • Maintain of guest information and pertinent hotel data

  • Think clearly, quickly, maintain concentration and make concise decisions inhigh pressure situations

 

General Responsibilities Include:

  • Calmly address a guest who has an issue with an aspect of their dining experience and know when and how to involve management/supervisory team members

  • Speak eloquently about the hotel, restaurant and menu

  • Understand the different menu items and the service ware guests will need when they are ordered

  • Prioritize guests’ needs above service team member convenience

  • Gain insights to a guests dining preferences through verbal and nonverbal cues

  • Be respectful and courteous to all colleagues and guests

  • Maintain the ambiance and service standards of the hotel at all times, while on property

  • Know and be able to speak elegantly about the wine, beer and cocktail selections

  • Prepare room for dining by preparing tables and setting decorations, condiments, candles, napkins, service plates, polishing glassware and polishing utensils.

  • Protect establishment and patrons by adhering to sanitation, safety, and alcohol beverage control policies.

  • Transmit orders to bar and kitchen by recording guests' choices, identifying guests' special dietary needs, food allergies, dietary restrictions and special requests.

  • Keep kitchen staff informed by noting timing of meal progression.

  • Serve orders by picking up and delivering guests' choices from bar and kitchen, delivering accompaniments and condiments from service areas.

  • Respond to additional guest requirements by inquiring of needs, observing dining process.

  • Maintain table setting by removing courses as completed, replenishing utensils, refilling water glasses, maintaining beverage service and being alert to patron spills or other special needs.

  • Conclude dining experience by acknowledging choice of restaurant, inviting patrons to return.

  • Obtain revenues by totaling charges, issuing bill, accepting payment, delivering bill and payment to host, returning change or credit card and signature slip to patrons.

  • Capable of providing instruction and assistance to the server assistant in their station

  • Stock and restock service stations as needed

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able walk, stand and exert well placed mobility for up to eight (8) hours

  • Must be able to bend, stoop, squat and stretch

  • Must be able to occasionally lift up to 30 lbs.

  • Requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, listening and hearing ability and visual acuity

     

    Qualification Standards:

                  Education: High school or equivalent preferred


    Experience: Two years of high end hotel restaurant server experience preferred.

    Licenses or Certificates:  TIPS and ServSafe certified preferred

    Grooming: All colleagues must maintain a neat, and well groomed appearance (specific standards will be provided).
