ABOUT HOTEL EMBLEM AND THE OBSCENITY BAR & LOUNGE

The 96-room property, formerly Hotel Rex, will re-open in early 2019 after an extensive renovation and rebrand inspired by the Beat Generation. San Francisco’s famous cultural movement awoke the nation’s rebellious side, and Hotel Emblem will bring the vibe back as a free-thinking enclave brimming with creative design elements and modern provocations. 

The Obscenity Bar and Lounge will be an intimate space where local happy hours, intimate dates, and San Francisco visitors are equally at home.  The lounge draws inspiration from the world’s great hotel bars, including the Savoy in London and the King Cole bar at the St. Regis in New York City.  A location where classic cocktails are served with attentive hospitality in an elegant setting.

 

ABOUT OUR POSITION

Our Bar Supervisor is responsible for assisting with bar operations, ensuring that customers receive the best service possible, upholding a constant level of staff productivity, ensuring that the bar’s budget is not exceeded and maintaining health and safety standards within the bar.

 

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE

  • Creating bar schedules.
  • Creating bar cocktail offers.
  • Hiring, training, coaching and managing bar colleagues.
  • Monitoring and maintaining bar inventory levels and replenishing as necessary.
  • Assisting guests with service, questions, comments, concerns.
  • Preparing and serving beverages.
  • Supporting bar maintenance.
  • Making menu suggestions.
  • Delivering food & drinks.
  • Describing the dishes to guests.
  • Making wine selection recommendations.
  • Ensuring maximum guest satisfaction. 

SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITY:

  • A Craft cocktail background is required.
  • A positive, service-oriented attitude and desire to contribute to a team.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize and anticipate guest needs.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Flexible availability.
  • A California Food Handler's Card must be obtained upon hire
