Hours:  This career opportunity is an exempt, full time/40+ hours per week, Director of Pharmacy position.  The pharmacy is open Monday through Friday from 6:30am - 9:00pm and Saturday, Sunday and Holidays from 7:30am - 6:00pm. 

As a Comprehensive Pharmacy Services (CPS) Director of Pharmacy at Bakersfield Heart Hospital you will oversee all pharmacy operations including planning, organizing, controlling, and supervising activities, according to hospital policies, standards of practice of the profession, and state and federal laws. You will recommend innovations in the practice and function of the pharmacy to hospital administration and carry out mutually agreed upon programs with the assistance of a Supervisor and other pharmacy staff.  As a CPS Director of Pharmacy you will have a full support team available to you including a Regional Vice President, Regional Vice President - Clinical, Regulatory and Compliance Director, Financial Analyst, Purchasing Analyst, Drug Information Specialist, and more.  

About the Facility:  Bakersfield Heart Hospital is a 47-bed for-profit independent specialty hospital located in Bakersfield California.  Bakersfield Heart Hospital specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of heart and vascular disease, but also cares for a wide range of other medical and surgical patients. The hospital is accredited by The Joint Commission.  Comprehensive Pharmacy Services (CPS) has partnered with the hospital to manage the day to day operations of this pharmacy. This position is an employee of CPS.

About the Pharmacy: This centralized automated pharmacy utilizes CPOE, Paragon (plans to migrate to Cerner in 2021), and Pyxis ES.  In addition to the Director, the Pharmacy is supported by a staff of 7 full time employees.  Pharmacy hours are Monday through Friday - 6:30am-9:00pm and Saturday, Sunday and Holidays - 7:30am-6:00pm.

Required Qualifications:

  • Pharmacy degree (BS or PharmD) from an accredited school of pharmacy
  • Current CA Pharmacist license in good standing
  • Three years of recent hospital management/supervisory experience 
  • Demonstrated skill in effectively communicating with others both verbally and in written form 
  • Demonstrated initiative to ensure quality patient care, customer satisfaction and infection control compliance
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, prioritize and delegate tasks, and supervise the work of pharmacists and pharmacy technicians
