Position Description

The Finance Associate role will be based in Washington DC but is an integral member of the Americas finance and operations team providing financial expertise and USG contracting oversight for the Americas region.  Additionally, will support the Accounting Supervisor in leading new initiatives to ensure the accounting operations continue to evolve to address the changing business needs.

Responsibilities include:

  • Ensure accurate recognition of revenue in compliance with government contracting standards and maintain supporting schedules to assist in preparation of audit documentation
  • Coordinate monthly invoicing inputs among project teams, including reviewing for compliance and accuracy
  • Manage the travel approval processes by providing oversight of inputs and answering any related compliance questions
  • Serve as first point of contact for any operational, contractual, or administrative questions related to USG contracts
  • Oversee the quarterly and annual reporting process required by USG contracts
  • Oversee all accounting functions to ensure financial data is recorded accurately, on time, and in accordance with US GAAP
  • Perform monthly reconciliation of balance sheet accounts
  • Work with Central Finance Team in disbursing intercompany invoicing and other transactions
  • Proactively manage all accounts receivable including follow-up with project teams and clients
  • Manage transactions and payments of corporate credit card
  • Work with Director of Finance and Operations to develop timely and meaningful management reporting
  • Continuously assess and recommend improvements in internal controls in an ever-growing international consulting firm
  • "Go-to" employee for all financial accounting software questions (QuickBooks Enterprise Edition). Participate in developing IT solutions to support business needs
  • Support business needs by preparing ad hoc requests as needed

 

Typical Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance preferred, with 2+ years of experience
  • Experience with GSA contracting highly preferred
  • Strong understanding of U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
  • Team-oriented, motivated to learn and willingness to tackle variety of assignments from routine tasks to more intricate requests
  • Self-starter with the ability to excel in a fast paced and customer service-oriented environment
  • Strong analytical, organizational, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Attention to detail, well-organized and able to set priorities
  • Ability to work under time constraints and produce accurate results
  • Proficient in Excel a must and working knowledge of MS Office
  • Proven aptitude for learning systems, tools and technology
